  1. First, a caveat: I ride northwave boots, which, while moderately stiff and pretty comfortable, aren't as stiff as burton drivers, and likely aren't shaped to flow bindings like flow-branded boots. Personally, I've found that flow's have absolutely zero lateral support. They're not bad bindings with angles up to 15 degrees or so, but anything past that and you either flex way too much through the gap in the side, or have to crank the achilles-crushing highback straight through your calf. My soft setup right now is a solomon mix-and-match bastard-child with spx6 straps and an spx5 winged highback. It's a huge improvement over the flows, especially at 20+degrees front and back.
  2. I'm not sure the first place I heard it, but I had seen the question asked unanswered a few times. As for price range, $50 shipped would be ideal, but I could probably go up to $100 if it was worth it. That's about the going price on ebay, as far as I can tell. Being lightweight and new at the sport, methinks my binding will not play nearly as big a role as my boots or board.
  3. These seem like the best bet for my ultra prime, and won't break the bank, but is it true they have fit problems with deeluxe boots?
  4. Sounds excellent. I'm going to school at Lewis and Clark in oregon now; if I can find a ride up, I'll see y'all there.
  5. I wear 26's, so short plate. Still wondering about the Olympic/WC differece, though. Catek's old forums appear to have been deleted.
  6. Looking at past classifieds, I'm actually seeing going rate for WC's at $75-$100 and Olympics for $150. What's the difference between the two?
  7. Dirk, it seems I can't send you an email. Will those cateks fit a 3-hole board?
  8. What's the difference between those and the original olympics? Are they one generation back? Standard or Intec? I'm interested.
  9. Preferably TD1's, but also open to whatever.

  11. How are xbones adjusted? Is it pretty easy to set cant/lift?
  12. I'm about 130lb. The cateks appeal to me mainly because of the easy adjustability and Intec support. I haven't really seen plastic intec bindings. However, my main concern is whether you are likely to feel any binding slop or flex from plastic ones.
  13. $100ish for plastic burton/snowpro/etc, or $300ish for cateks? I was looking for Catek OS1's or TD1's, but couldn't find any. How long do plastic bindings satisfy? I'll be riding suzukas on an ultra prime.

So between a 162 Ultra Prime and a Factory Prime, given someone 130lb, which would be best for long, laid-out turns? The stiffness of the FP or the large radius of the UP?

How much do you weigh? What would the slope be like on a graph of delta-mass to delta-optimal-board-length?

The 162 Ulta Prime on klug riding looks really attractive. I'm imagining the soft flex will make turn initation pretty easy, the large sidecut radius will make long, laid-out turns work out, and the price ($175) won't break the bank. Am I overlooking something?

How does flex affect stability? I get that larger ridecut radii make the board want to hold longer turns, but I don't get how flex plays into the equation. If I really want to lay turns out, do I want a stiff board?

I am also searching for a first alpine board: -I am about 5'4", 130lb, and pretty athletic. -I am pretty experienced at softboot carving. I enjoy holding long, deep lines, and riding at boot angles of 20-35 degrees. I ride a 156cm relatively still salomon freeride board, and find it a little short. -I don't mind a little initial frustration or pain if it means building skills quickly. -Being a broke college student, I need a board that will last a good three years without me outgrowing it. Doneks, priors, and F2s look like great boards, but I was thinking about getting a factory prime, ultra prime, or one of oxygen ones that seems to turn up everywhere. For a good balance of versatility and edge-holding, would a 10m sidecut be about right? Is a 162 Ultra Prime way too long?

How many times have the liners been molded?
  20. Ooh, yeah. Any pricing info on the new Heads?
  21. With a thermoflex liner would be nice, but whatever.
