  1. Salut ! Faites moi signe si vous me voyez . -Jules
  3. I woke up this morning, looked out the window : A blue sky, not even a cloud around. The perfect day to try my new toy ! -18*celcius seemed kind of cold but it wasn't so bad after all. I was anxious about going from a 57/54 degrees setup to 69/66 (The board is so narrow!)... It took a few ride to get used to the angle and then, I saw the light : The board has so much potential, the edge hold is AMAZING. I also realised that the board has a great flex, I only weight ~140lbs/ 5"8 and the 170 cm feels perfect. My old KR-56 was way stiffer and I had a hard time flexing it even though it was only 156cm. We were four hardbooters at st-bruno this morning, so we all ride went to ride togheter from 10am to 3pm. We practiced mostly areal carving and I have to say the Madd was really good at it because of the flexibility. Unfortunatly, the day did not end as expected... As I was going down a slope, I was still practicing jumping from edge to edge, and suddently, in the fourth turn, I jumped a little higher than usual. I changed edge and as I was going back down, my nose got stuck in the snow and *BANG*... I'm sitting in the snow, my leg hurts badly, and my thumb too... So I manage to get to the side of the track not to block it... Now there's only one thing in my mind :: "Did I break something??"..! So the guys I was with came to me, asked if I was alright. I then tried moving my leg and yes, it moved :D but it hurts..I managed to get down the hill while someone was carrying my board and went directly to the medic.. Results : One sprained thumb. He couldnt tell about the leg (It's nothing serious) so he told me to put ice on it and if it still hurts a few days, I should see a doc. Normally, I should be able to ride next weekend (wich is great) depending on my leg's condition. For a second, I thought my season was over:freak3: . Hopefully, the board is still in perfect shape:p. Anyways, I'm really happy about the madd, I like the lenght since it's really stable even at high speeds and it turns on a dime because of the flexibility. The best of both worlds. I recommend it even though it's only the third alpine board I've ever tried . -Jules
  4. C'est une super bonne idee !! J'aimerais aussi les comparer. A quelle montagne vas-tu habituellement?
  5. Well I'll just start with centered and try forward stance when I get to know my board a little more ;) Thanks ! -Jules
  6. Wow.. the future of computers I guess.. No more keyboards, mouses. Kinda nice, but probably still too expensive  makes me think of a movie I saw once, called Johnny Mnemonic..
  7. I just received my Madd 170 ! Thanks to Jack I just installed the bindings and I'm going to try it out tommorow morning. The carver's almanac says "Madds have forward-loaded camber", does that mean I should install both bindings in the front slots ? ie: [::]:: [::]:: or should I just install them the usual way.. ie: :[::]: :[::]: **I know this is more of a preference thing but I wondered since they specified it has a forward-loaded camber** Also, I've seen green and red sidewalls on the madds.. What is the difference ? Is it the year of production? Or the stiffness of the board? Thanks! -Jules
  10. From what I heard, "Telemark" is the name of a city in norway where people who were working as "messengers" used cross country skis to travel through the mountains. Obviously, it is hard to turn on cross country skis going down hill, so through the year, they developped a technique (Flexing your back leg, weight transition) to control their speed doing "slalom". They called it Telemark. Now your question is ''what's the point?'', well I would say it's just another way to go down the hill, I heard it's pretty fun (and hard). My 2cents. -Jules;)
  11. Ahh, I see ! And yes, I am in Automotive marketing or something like that at georgian's. (starting next september) Are you too? -Jules
  12. Weird haha, I saw that too.. 2 weeks ago, my brother went to buy his first alpine board, a Oxygen Kr-49 and it came with some old burton bindings .The bindings were in duck stance. The funny part is that since the bindings are 3D, the owner actually drilled a hole through the board to make the rear binding fit .. We asked him why the bindings were like that and he answered, "It gives you better stability in the snowpark". I didnt ask him why he bought that instead of a freestyle snowboard... Oh and he also used ski boots  .Anyways, except for the big hole, the board was in pretty good shape. -Jules
  13. Hehe, then I won't even consider having a membership at horseshoe! I looked up Mount St. Louis Moonstone and it seems rather nice while it's not too far from Barrie, this is perfect! I also heard of some ''blue mountain ski resort" in Ontario wich seemed popular, is it too far away ? Thanks for the information.:D -Jules
  14. I absolutly agree with you : a helmet is really important for your safety, and if I had a kid, I would make him wear one for sure. All I said was it is more TEMPTING to buy a I-POD or whatever you want to buy then a HELMET (For yourself). It is my choice not to wear one, because I have other priorities. This conversation isn't going nowhere.. I'm out. -Jules **Thanks for the links, might come in handy someday
  15. I totally agree. I just removed it... Currently studying sociology in college on poverty and minorities:rolleyes: Sorry for hijacking the thread. -Jules
  16. It's nothing racist, black is the name of a clothe store,. As you see on the picture, the owner is selling the store and wrote ''Blacks for sale''. I have a black friend who goes to school with me and we were laughing about that because it sounded ''racist''. I put that picture on cardomain because that guy is also on cardomain and I knew he would visit my page and laugh. I'm sorry if it offended you,but I agree with you, since it's more like an inside joke, people might think I'm racist or something and be offended.. You know what, I might just remove that. Sorry about that. -Jules
  17. I know this is going to sound irresponsible but, for a low budget student like me, there's always the : "Am I really gonna spend my money on this?" question... I know a helmet is really important to have, and I'd regret it if anything happened, but I can't seem to actually go buy it while I have the money. I spend it on other stuff... I mean for that kind of money, you can get step-in bindings, a nice coat, an I-pod :p, fun stuff . But you're right, next thing I buy is definatly a helmet. Even though I ride on a small mountain, as you said, anything can happen, even in the easiest trails. Anyway, I'm glad you're safe... -Jules
  18. Hey :D I currently live in quebec but I'll be moving to ontario, barrie, really soon to some school called Georgian college. I know it's located in Barrie, and since I will live there about 3 years, I was wondering if there were some nice ski resorts around. I looked it up and so far, all I have found is ''horseshoe ski resort'' (wich is 15 minutes away). Honestly it seemed a little small :( . So anyway, if any of you could tell me about bigger resorts around Barrie (30 mins away or less), that would be great Looking forward to meeting some of you. Thanks ! -Jules
  19. Wow!! Your miata is awesome... I would die to get a RWD ! Those are some large tires you got on there, the grip must be great. I never raced my car on a track, so I might try this next summer. By the way, really nice winter beater too, driving a 4WD with 280hp.. Lucky you. My winter cars is actually a 90 mazda protegee... All rusted and stuff. I almost died last week because all of a sudden, the breaks wouldnt work. So I might just get rid of it instead of repairing; at some point, it's just not worth it anymore.
  20. Are you sure ? It was written 20 on the box.
  21. Lol.. I actually clicked on that link thinking it would work...
