  1. Were are all the carvers in the northwest? I understand Snoqualmie is not the best in the area, but I have not found any hardbooters in three years..... I cannot find a way to attached videos, so the easiest way is to search youtube with "Snoqualmie Carving Steve"...... Fresh powder for 2015.....100+ inches and counting. https://youtu.be/MY7_qKzytao
  2. Sail, golf, hike, SUP, bike, surf or travel to the snow......That's what the northwest US needed to do last year!!!! We had no season last year and we currently have a 74" base and 114" on top!!!!! 8"-12" for another two storms. I know the feeling. Oh yeah watch a lot of videos.....
  3. Boots and liners in excellent shape. Shell size is 25-27.5. I think that is about a 8.5-9 mens, but someone could correct me. $100. Best if local in Seattle Washington area.
  4. Clips of the first few runs Saturday and Sunday at Snoqualmie Central. I am starting to notice that all my videos are blurring into the same one.....Who cares, the skiing was perfect! Enjoy until next fall!!!!
  5. Warm spring carving. Deep ruts.:D:D:D Notice the number of times looking uphill before every broad turn sequence. All from the video showing the collision. Music is same playing in the headphones.
  6. 120" base within 25 minutes. Last Sunday was 34 and counting. It looks great for spring skiing this weekend. Clear and might be cold at night. So at least 36 for the year! under last year, but still loved every single turn and will need to make up the difference next year.
  7. The conditions were perfect Saturday. 30 in the morning and warmed to 50 by noon. These are the first 6 runs of the day. GoPro was on wrong setting and did not have much wide angle, so pretty crappy video!
  8. I make it there 2-3 times a year. It is hard to go elsewhere when I can be on the mountain in 30 minutes.
  9. The last 4 weekends, I have not seen another HB'er at Snoqualmie Central and definitely did not see your tracks. Actually, I have only seen two this whole year from 33 days of skiing. Tomorrow will be perfect courderoy and zero people. It would be great to get a few final days with other HB's. See you at 8:30 in the morning at the Central Express chair, begging to let me on the lift, for a few runs down Alpine and then Silver Fir for the mid morning.....:D:D:D:D

    Nice Courderoy

Conditions were the same this past Saturday and Sunday, April 7 and 8th. Condtiions were perfect. I hop all northwest skiers are still hitting the slopes.
  12. Cost per time - Season Pass $289 - cost for gas per trip $5 - 33 times so far this year $289/33 +$5 = $13.75/trip for 3-4 hours of carving. Therefore, $4 per hour!!! This is hands down the cheapest sport that I do and by far more thrillling than any of them. We still have 10 feet base and hope they keep the mountain open. Longboarding in the summer will not be he same!
  13. My new saying to everyone that asks me about my board, what is it, is it fun, etc.... I simply tell them that it is called Alpine. I then say " I don't know why everyone is not doing it"I go on to tell them how fun it is, where to buy equipment, BOL and Donek, and everyone should have as much fun as I am having every time I go down the slope. This is hands down the most controlled adrenaline fueled sport that I have done. Windsurfing is fun, surfing is short and sweet, longboarding is excellent but consequences are severe, but none are better than carving at mach:D. After hardbooting for over 12 years and between 30-45 days each year, I am more like a kid each time I go down the hill. Everyday and every carve is awesome! Enjoy the sport and spread the word as I have only seen a single hard booter this year. WTF;)

Conditions were identical to this on Saturday and Sunday. I hope the riders in the Northwest are enjoying the conditions!:D
  15. Two other sports that have the same demo are windsurfing and catamaran sailing. The young bucks got suckered into jetskis and video games. I tell everyone that asks me what setup I have "I don't know why everyone doesn't use hardboots". I get as much or more adrenaline rush from g-forces on the steeps as most park activities and much less risk to reward as my old body doesn't bounce like it used to!
  16. When viewing most eurocarve videos (or whatever you want to call them) most of the transitions from edge to edge are not smooth. Anyone can lay down when they are turning, but smooth edge to edge transitions IMHO are the key to great carving. The transition of power to the edge is done by body angulation and attempting to have 100% force initiated to the edge. This reduces slipping and makes a true carve. I have been riding a couple Donek 185 FC with a 12.5 sidecut for the last 6 years. Before that I rode a Riot Supercarve that had a 11.5 sidecut. I also have a few other boards, a Factory Prime, Burton M6, and Burton P6. On a very steep run I can lay down EC's, but they are more of controlled slip or slide while laying down without smooth transitions. Almost feels like carving a board with 90 degree boot angles. The amount of work from edge to edge is way more work than necessary to carve smoothly. There are only a few EC carvers that seem to transition smoothly from edge to edge. With all the background....Here is the question; What is the preferred sidecut for ECing?

A season pass and getting first chair! I can usually make 5-6 runs before the area officially opens. The video is the first 5 runs of the morning. In the last two runs on the video you can see the Webski red coats. They are ski instructors that group and ski together for morning warm-ups and there are like 20-40 of them. Once they go down the run the courderoy is gone. Perfect conditions only 30 minutes from a million people.

I am up at Central most every Saturday and Sunday at 8:15 to make as many runs before the crowds come. That is if it is not raining. I am also up every Wednesday at West for City League. It would be good to share ruts with others. Mike, do you have the Rossi board?
  19. Another nice courderoy day! Enjoy.
  20. Saturday was day 41 for me, but I am 47. So with 2 more days in the season I won't make my age:(. My son has done 32 and he is only 16 so he was able to double his age.....
  21. I posted the two videos with STP as the owner. My last video camera was a Oregon Scientific and workd very well for simplicity and waterproof, but did not have wide angle which was tougher to video on the catamaran and in the waves and did not show the POV that I had. Also in the snow it was very hard to aim without the wide angle. BUT I was able to easily edit the video using Windows Movie Maker that everyone has on their window based machines. Now with the GoPro the HD movies are great, but I have been converting the video to AVI fromat and editing them with the Windows Movie Maker. I lose resolution with the conversion and therefore, I need a video editor for the GoPro MP4 so I do not need to convert. Please give me ideas on best software to use for a windows based machine! Also, are there free software programs available? It would also be nice to have editing software to enhance night videos as well. Here is a night video of racing that would be good to lighten up if possible.
  22. Another good day. Still getting used to the GoPro and what views are best. If you get a monopod make sure is locks each section as the telescopic one I have if I shake it too much the camera rotates to to the bottom.
  23. First video with GoPro in 42 degrees and slushy conditions after couple days of rain. :barf:At least it wasn't raining! Light was flat and dull. Need camera mount idea for front knee.
  24. The cycle has been every two years for a new board. The last two boards I basically ordered the same custom board from Donek 185FC with increasing lenght and stiffness to compensate for my increased weight. I have been getting 80+ days per board and you can definitely feel that the board is worn out and looses some of its stiffness and spring when you jump on a new board with similar dimensions. Not sure if new school technology is metal, but the glass is perfectly fine for my style and have not had anything that the board doesn't do:1luvu:. I just wish there were more riders in the northwest as I have been up 12 days this year and have not seen another hard booter or their ruts!!!
  25. I don't know how anyone rides with ear buds not being able to hear their own carves....I just got some strap speakers for backpack straps. I used a buckled strap simulating a backpack strap and they sit on your shoulders and provide all the music you want while NOT being all encompassing. They are a great alternative and can be found on www.luckybums.com/music_strap.htm. These also makes the anti music folks listen to your music.
