  2. Its springtime in MT here's a quick update from the big! Dear Pass Holders, Early this morning, ski patrollers at the summit were measuring the actual temperature to be in the range of -15°F to -20°F, with wind gusts above 30mph. Our calculations put the maximum wind chill at about -60°F. When it is that windy and cold, mechanical and electrical systems become much less reliable than they are in average conditions. Structural properties of metals and plastics change, and things that were once pliable become rigid and brittle. We might consider allowing our hearty Montana skiers to brave these conditions for 7-1/2 minutes during a ride up Chair 1, but when you consider the possibility that something might go wrong with the chair lifts for reasons mentioned above, the risk is obviously too great. A relatively small problem with Chair 1 that left riders suspended for just 10 minutes with wind chills consistently below -40°F may have proved disastrous. A strong gust of wind that derailed the lift cable would have been even worse. So, with all this in mind, we decided not to open Chairs 1, 7, and 8 this morning. As of now the weather looks like it will allow us to open them tomorrow. All the lower lifts, including Chair 2, were open today at a reduced ticket price of $29. Our passion is for skiing, but our priority lies in the safety of our guests. We hope you can understand our decision to act on that priority. Thank you for your support, The Management of Whitefish Mountain Resort

  6. FROM MY COLD DEAD HANDS:nono:
  7. I also rode it on a powder day when it was totally tracked up and heavy. I was concerned about the bumps at first but whenever it was feeling loose I just laid it over farthur and it cut right through. The metal really makes this thing damp enough to handle most anything. shred you hit a winner man:1luvu::biggthump
  8. So I have been riding this thing in every condition imaginable and it is really amazing. update to a previous question about suitability for moguls. ITs very doable if your legs are up to it! I rode it down the liftline on the backside of BIG MTN blackdiamond moguls with about 3 inches of fresh on it. I didn't die or catch the nose etc. I would have liked bare moguls or more fresh to really enjoy the run. the variable conditions made it a little twitchy in places. I also rode it on a big powder day. The day started off with 4 inches and just dumped all day. the late afternoon was over a foot in places. IT was nice light cold smoke for the most part. I ran the board harder than ever before and could do no wrong. Absolutely insane to see only an inch or two of board edge sticking out or the snow on a hard carve. Total hip dragging bliss! In places where the snow was really deep I floated above the groomer and it performed like a carver with a sort of water ski feel to it. First time experience and so worth it. At speed it comes to the top like a swallowtail. I can only assume the long rocker nose is responsible for that. more in a minute:biggthump
  9. A hit like that can also misalign your atlas axis C1 and/or C2 putting pressure on your brain stem and leading to the symptoms you describe. I recomend a visit to the Chiropractor while you are getting things checked out.
  10. hey dave! Any updates today? I saw wescarven on the hill but he didn't know any more than what you posted. get well jonnie boy:biggthump your losing VERT
  11. :eplus2:what front edge:eplus2: step on my tail in the lift line and find out;)
  12. I found something it wouldn't do:eplus2: lazy ankle carves in really soft groom everything going just fine. I leaned over farther with each carve just playing with it on a fresh groomed cat track. the nose augered in and layed me over. not really a folded nose scenario, but more operator error. I can do the same thing all day long in any conditions provided I stay on the tail. trying to "push" it on a toeside initiation caught me flat with to much weight on the nose. at least for the super soft groom I was in. On a seperate note It will do moguls nicely. ITs short enough and the transition is fast enough its totally doable:biggthump
