I put myself down as "maybe, hard to tell" but actually I think the idea of an Tahoe/Reno event is fantastic. The costs associated with SES are a significant disincentive for me: lodging plus car rental adds up. If we were based in Reno, we could stay at a cheap casino hotel, and there seem to be enough ski buses that rental cars wouldn't even be necessary. And hey, nickel slots!

I liked the idea of coming down to Mammoth/June. It might also be fun to do a combined Tahoe and Mammoth version. Of course then all the TC folks will argue whether to do it at Alpine, Squaw, Northstar, Rose, Heavenly or Kirkwood.

Nekdut, you started it. Just take the reigns and go with it. If you build it, they will come (most likely).

Also don't forget to contact Sean at Donek about getting demo boards. It should be easy in April. If you want to deal with the issues of mounting bindings, you might also talk to Fin about demo TDs. And I think Prior has a demo fleet.

You'll never make everyone happy, so just go with what you think is best and see where it goes.

Okay, April 7, 8 and 9. Mammoth and June Mountains.

I will get in contact with the mountain regarding group pricing, as well as Sean, Fin, Chris and anyone else who would consider sponsoring our gathering.

On hill lodging is a pricey affair, but I'll get prices for those who are interested. In town condos and hotels will be much more affordable.

I've seen demo tents set up at the bottom Chair 2/Stump Alley often, so that would probably be a good meeting place. It would probably be a more difficult affair at June with their mid-lodge situation, but perhaps we could arrange transport of the demo gear up past lower June.

I would appreciate any assistance that I can get with this as I am not a Mammoth local (300 miles away  ) but I should be there more than 30 days this season.

Not sure what I can do, I'm hoping I might be able to ride by then. I grew up in Bridgeport (50 mi north on US395) so am very familiar with the area, however since I live as far north as you (nekdut) live south, it will be a challenge for me also (it's also safe to say that you get there way more often than I do). My brother still lives in Bridgeport - I will see if he knows any one who might have some inside lines at either resort.

Let me know if I can help, I will do what I can.

p.s. I would think June would be more than willing to run gear up the first hill via service vehicle or utility chair.

....

A quick check of June Lake area shows some fairly reasonable lodging, however the night life won't offer near what Mammoth Lakes has to offer.

Just got off of the phone with Sean. Donek is on board for demos. :biggthump

Also I've gotten a hold of Chris, and we are trying to work out Prior demos as well.

I'll get some lodging and lift ticket options soon.

Regarding the schedule, I was thinking the following:

Fri Apr 7: Mammoth for a day of carving (less crowds)

Sat: June

Sun: June or Mammoth depending on weather/crowds and lift ticket pricing.

Hopefully we can get in some time at one of the local pubs on Friday and Saturday evening.
