General Tsao
Headed up to Stowe this weekend and wanted to see if any fellow Northeast folks can recommend a shop in the stowe area for a board tune. Haven't had the chance to get my gear in order due to injury but hoping to get on the snow this weekend. Appreciate any intel you can provide. Thank you. barryj
If your just talking wax and sharpen existing edges.......well their all capable of that but your not going to get it done same day. You will have to leave it overnight or (the closer to the weekend) longer at most places.
dhamann
it's gonna be soft. you should be fine. maybe just grab some cheap rub on liquid wax to get by if you're that dry. apply morning and lunch and/or while waiting in line. General Tsao
Thanks for the reply all. Figured I'd be in a tough spot to get it turned around in time. Do any of you have an over the counter sharpener you'd recommend? Thanks again.
dhamann
i used to use that orange SKS multi-base and side tuner. recently got a TOKO side edge tuner with rollers for this year. works much better than the SKS. while using the same angles as the SKS, it still cut. also using the beast bevel guides for base. the individual tuners (base specific and side specific) seem to work better, like night and day but i might be preaching to the choir. i don't know of any shops specifically to call around stowe, but i'd recommend calling around. i just did this for softy bindings as i'm headed there M-W next week. conclusion is that there is extremely limited stock. perhaps, order online and ship to your lodging if your lodging accepts deliveries. otherwise, check with guest services at mountain to where guests can get packages delivered. i don't know how dire straights you are, but there are options. good luck! General Tsao
Thanks so much for the reply. As others have said, with the new snow its going to be soft anyway so should be fine with what I have. Gonna roll with it for now and order something up for next week. Appreciate the help.
