Gladiator, first ride...

Park City and my first ride with the Gladiator “Zylon” Prototype...

Snow conditions, good!

The board delivered exactly what I asked for... a faster version of my Terminator,

but with a larger radius combined with the same “fast” edge to edge ability, packaged into a very smooth ride altogether…

I was riding with my F2 bindings (19inch stance, 63/60 angles, 1cm toe and heel lift, 1.5 degree negative front cant)

and Deeluxe Suzuka boots (w/ modified springs).

We took a couple pictures near the King Con lift…

The Team ;)

The Turn. Low, wide and pretty fast turns… The Gladiator delivered excellent edge hold… was able

to hold this backside/heelside ;) for quite some time before entering into the next frontside/toeside ;) turn…

Guest Randy S.

I'm jealous. It looks like fun. When my achilles heals I want to ride one of those boards.

Does your wife have a twin sister who wants to live in NorCal? Did I just say that out loud?

Ray,

Great pics.

makes me impatient to get my virus.

Since you have been riding (and own) a number of different Virus boards, could you summarize the riding characteristics of different models? @ Virus homepage they don't write any more than 1 or 2 lines.

Dont know why euro's use the terms, but we were using it for surfing in the 60's. Great pic's, though being in the NW makes looking at them very painfull. :)

skate= Toesides your "backside" is facing the outside of the turn heelsides your face/"frontside" is facing the outside of the turn...it's always been this way for me though it does get annoying when you skate with Goofy's

100% surfing term:

frontside (toeside): your "chest" to the wave. easiest way to ride one.

backside (healside): your "back" to the wave. generally more difficult since its hard to judge the breaking wave -- plus your neck is usually uncomfortably twisted trying to look for the sweet spot of the wave since that section is now located directly behind you.

so a regular foot surfer natually likes "right" breaking waves and a goofy footer would prefer "lefts".

sort of applicable to snowboarding, especially on steeper trails.

yeah, its the vert thing that makes a different

all I know is a frontside smith and backside smith look a hell of a lot different and Nolder rocked the backsides:)

Id still think frontside would be heelside and backside would be toe:)

damn skaters

With a surfing background, I'm more use to calling turns frontside/backside. For snowboarding toeside/heelside is definately more user-friendly.

When surfing, if you do a frontside bottom-turn, its the same as a toe-side turn. But then, if you do a frontside cut-back, you end up doing a heel-side turn.

Then it really gets confusing when you start calling fronstide/backside off of straight jumps or rails.
