bumpyride
Which of the Salt Lake resorts are banning snowboards? Which are the best for Glades. Which are the best for Steeps and Chutes? Could use a list in descending order of resorts with the best off-piste terrain. Not too worried about the Groomers at this time. Need to get the Heart pumping. March 5th through the 12th are our actual on snow days. I'll be boarding with one of the best skiers I've ever seen. He's good to go in all conditions, so that's what we're planning on doing. D-Sub
as far as I know only alta doesnt allow boards. if you want it all in one spot, go to Snowbird. Brighton is pretty badass, too, with plenty of steeps, glades, and is really a natural skatepark. awesome! Very affordable too.
Guest Randy S.
Deer Valley doesn't allow snowboards.

Guest Frappe
The only four mountains in the U.S. that don't allow snowboarding are Alta, Taos, Deer Valley, and Mad River Glen (the only one on the East Coast) but that's a whole 'nother post. Skully
Snowbird gets my vote. I'll let the other locals chime in if they like others....
Guest tigger
whats the argument for banning snowboards?
Guest tigger
why didnt they ask us if we like siers?
Neil Gendzwill
I think by now for those 4 places it's built into the marketing - those are the mountains you go to if you want the "pure" skiing experience, ie no snowboarders. Given the behaviour of a lot of the lunch-tray crowd, can't say I blame them.
joecarve
"Snowboard? No, no, no...this is a monoski. Look, here...see my skiboots?" :D
Skully
"Snowboard? No, no, no...this is a monoski. Look, here...see my skiboots?" An INLINE monoski..... (Carry some poles, and ride it like a skwal, and it's legal.....)
patmoore
And wouldn't you know it - our annual club trip is to Taos Feb 5-12. It will be the first trip I've ever taken without a board. I don't suppose anyone would notice if I sneaked one on the hill?
Guest tigger
did you think about a splitboard?
Gecko
to Taos is a no go...over the years they have seen every possible way to snowboard and look like you are skiing...the lifties there are well versed in sideways shredders and the camo that we generate. patmoore
Guess I have to go a week without dragging my knuckles. I have a new pair of Salomon Screams that I can try out in the powder. Alta, Deer Valley, and Taos are permanently off our list of potential future club trips (Mad River was never a consideration)
