Burton boards - what does the "S" in the size stands for?

I've actually came across the "split"-S on carver's almanac, but i'm really wondering about the Factory Primes. Just check the classifieds - there are boards sized with an "S" (ex.: 180s) and there are boards without it (the majority). Slim? Soft? Stiff? Slalom? Single-ski?
