mo_writer
Since I'm not having much luck finding bindings, I'm been trying to figure out if I can safely modify what I have. I finally figured out how I could add a metal plate to an old Burton binding to make it fit my boots, but I'm wondering if it will put too much torque on them and break the mounting disk or frame. I slid a piece of cardboard to show what I'm thinking of - here are pictures of the regular set-up and the modification. I weigh about 115 pounds and am 5' tall. OhD
WHOA - you've got an original corduroy-pattern Burton stomp-pad! Do you have any idea how valuable those are to the cognescenti? You definitely don't want to put a modified binding next to one of those - that would degrade the value by half easily. What you really need is a nice pair of authentic lime green Burton Race Plates. BTW - I think I saw some MP 23 or 24 boots on fleabay today.
teach
I have some Raichle Carbon X-bones that would fit, I'm pretty sure. I measured them out for someone else with small boots. For someone <140 lbs or so they'd be great. They're step-in, though. I think a standard pair might be for sale now in the classifieds too. TD2s can be made to fit as well, by reversing the toe block. You don't seem to have email enabled, so I'm posting here.
teach
I haven't seen these bindings in person, but that idea does work on TD2s and is what I was referring to. Cool. Does the step-in mechanism still work this way? What kind of boots do you use?
b0ardski
those burton variplates have notches on the bottom side of the rails that lock the bails into place, the inner most notches will be the limit of how close together you can set the bails regardless of where the mount blocks are placed. mo_writer
Thanks, teach - got a pair of bindings that work with my boots and will try to re-sell these.
