Budge
I have a set of FR1s that I am planning on using. I have no idea of where to start as far as setting the canting. I presume that it should be up at the toe and inwards at the front, and down at the toe, and inwards at the rear foot. Is this correct? What would be a good starting point for angles of 18° front and 9° rear?
Beckmann AG
Start flat, and see how it rides. On the carpet: Load a suitable backpack with ~80 lbs of potatoes, steel shot, jars of dill pickles, or small casks of depleted uranium, and stand on your bindings. Rock around slowly in a circle, as though you are a joystick, and get a feel for how your ankles feel under load when biased on one foot or the other. Adjust the cant and lift such that you find the best possible relationship of weight distribution along the length of each foot, while at the same time tuning the 'static' out of your ankle joints. Take it to the snow (sans*backpack) and see what happens.
