How did this work out? Is this board still available? -David
  2. Great looking board. What weight rider is it intended for?
  3. Make that four to one. I think that I would prefer the blue and white design if it was simply the blue with the line down the middle, and no white.
  4. I think I might have done that once by mistake :o0
  5. I have a set of FR1s that I am planning on using. I have no idea of where to start as far as setting the canting. I presume that it should be up at the toe and inwards at the front, and down at the toe, and inwards at the rear foot. Is this correct? What would be a good starting point for angles of 18° front and 9° rear?
  6. What flex is the board?
  7. The front of the mountain is nearly all intermediate terrain, great for a family, and wide open carving. There is challenging (double black) terrain on the back but it generally requires a traverse at the top and/or bottom to get to and from the lift. There is a nice central village with hotels and numerous fancy condos nearby. They have very extensive cross-country trails, outdoor skating and a tube park. It is a great hill for a young family, where not everyone wants challenging terrain or even to ski/snowboard. There are plenty of other activities. Well worth a trip if that is what you are looking for.
  8. Does anyone have a good feel for how much difference the extra width on the 167 Tankers makes. I currently have an older, 2004, 172 which I have really enjoyed but find that there are times in tighter steep trees, that I think that a shorter board would be nice. I don't have big feet, so I don't need the extra width of the 167, but the shorter length and extra float in powder could be an advantage. Would I be losing the advantage of going shorter by being slower edge to edge? I think what I really would like is the 162, but they don't seem to be available. Does the reduced rocker of the newer Tankers make much difference? Would the new 172 be much different than my older one? Thanks, budge
  9. Would 170 lbs be too light for this board? I haven't ridden hardboots much although I have plenty of softboot time in. Cheers, Budge
  10. I have a 160 Volkl Cross that I found to be too stiff in the nose for powder. I got a Tanker 172, with the intention of using it for soft snow days, saving the Cross for hardpack days. In reality, I virtually never use the Volkl now, as it is less versatile than the Tanker, and is not too much better on the hardpack.
  11. It's 1.2 kg! It had better be worthwhile.
  12. Are those standard 4x4 inserts? What is their spacing? Do you have specs on the board? Cheers, Budge
  13. Thanks for all the input. I'm only 160 lbs, so the extra stiffnes was likely part of the problem. The 4WD was quite soft, made for someone even light, so that may not have helped either. I can't see my self spending $450, on the off chance that I really like the Sidewinders but I will definitely keep an eye out for a set of F2s. Anyone want a set of TD1s? going cheap. :o)
