carvediem
****ing fantastic :) uh so is that yourself on the first vid @ bobble (see comment above) . . . somehow or naturally this has revived my guitar playing I bought strings for my acoustic today (after the rest of the old in part broken set was used on the homemade) and thought about buying an electric next and not getting into the next homemade project soon but snowboard or snowboard parts / bindings is a great idea I shall think about that sooner than I thought :) off off topic but I also like the youtube clip I have included on my blog there . . . another slight motivation to pick up the guitar more often again . . . uh yeah . . . sorta stoked :)
bobble
no... sorry, that's not me. check out more youtube clips wadestar1969. he's got cigar box guitars that sound really nice. hard to believe. i get issues of "Make". every now and again they'll do a special on cigar box guitars. they did a project on the didley bow and i whipped one up in a couple minutes. it sounded ok but quickly got out of tune within a couple strikes. i was using picture framing wire, need either piano or guitar string. it definitely sounds cool. carvediem
shamisen great (only looked that up just now sorry) also there's quite some didley bow inspiration elsewhere on this forum . . . since as a Japan fan and a snowboard didley being sort of impractical to play in the car awaiting taxi missions I figure I shall build an electric shamisen . . . <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/Z1fTbDJiyrM?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> as for the clip above I got the intro down already and as for the theme starting at 1:36 I really yearn to play it again afterwards with the amp on . . . <iframe width="425" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0p_yo_VGOSw?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Awesome. But I could be getting my movies mixed up watching a lot of random stuff. And I give you Shovelman..... <iframe width="560" height="349" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/MbAZPHtDIY0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
carvediem
really gotta thank you skatha for that shamisen pointer - only thinking in western terms music I would have chucked my first homemade although thinking of it as a success for making any sound but I have been playing for hours on it uh amateur japanese style which is sort of possible on this thing :) (stay tuned for that showing off sound clip sometime later on) also I want to share the pics of the neighbor's diddley bow using the whole balcony as resonance body oh well he is only half hearted about any musical ambitions though not to mention some general weirdness in his persona so although looking cool this really doesn't warrant a a sound clip yet :)
carvediem
I am playing the selfmade shamisen so much that I now consider my netbook mike to not capture the true scope of its sound so no updated clip . . . anyway I have san sagari tuning on this one and having a lot of fun . . . and I found a couple of very inspiring clips on youtube under "lapstick" guitar so I am looking forward to the next project :) <iframe width="420" height="345" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/FSn074s8NA4?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> <iframe width="420" height="345" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/ZUcRy8q1fss?rel=0" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
