McGurk
Hi Everybody - just wondering if there are any "hardbooters" in West Michigan? I teach alpine skiing at Cannonsburg and have a carving snowboard setup that I would like to learn this season. If anyone is out at the Burg, or perhaps other West Michigan ski areas, who could give me a few pointers I would appreciate it. Thanks! Kurt Swanson
Hey McGurk, welcome aboard. I don't live too far from Cannonsburg. I'm only in my second season with hardboots and I might be able to give you some pointers, but I'm sure I can show you what not to do! :D What nights are you teaching? Scuff
Go GVSU! Sorry for the thread jack.. I never actually ridden at Cannonsburg.. Back in high school, I used to teach at Timber Ridge. (Was one of the only a few (3-4?)carvers back in '95.) My college buddy is still in the area and carves - I'll see when he is going out. burdhntr
Wow! Sounds like W. Michigan is full of new carvers! I just got my setup finished, and went for the first time last friday. Kicked my ass! Glad to knw there's others out there, and I live by Cannonsburg and will be there fairly regularly. Let me know if anyone wants to meet first thing some morning over the holidays. FIgure that since they groom at night, early am would be best. Dave
McGurk
I went out yesterday with my new / old setup, but I teach on Saturdays from 10 to 3. First ride of the season was very humbling. My hardboots (Burton Reactors) are soooo much more comfortable that my ski boots. Going from the Burtons to my Head Raptors (a la Lindsay Vonne was a bad idea. I hope they open the triple chair soon. That seemed like a good area to practice. We going out tomorrow from 11 to 2pm if anybody else is interested. Thanks.
burdhntr
I will do my best to be there then. Hopefully, it won't be packed. I'll look for the long boards.
