Call me jack
Hey, i'm trying to take the bindings off of one of my snowboards, and it seems the threads have stuck inside to the insert. I have a hammer strike impact screwdriver. do you think theirs a chance i could damage something, by using that to remove my bindings? Puddy Tat
What type of binding are you using? Because if is is a bomber with a cant disk. I have removed the plate, screwed back in the three plate mounting screws and then used a 6' long piece of angle steel between the screws to provide leverage and turn the entire binding and remove stuck screws that way. This way I'm not impact hammering on the inserts just gently applying a higher torque. This works for me as the stainless steel martini head screws are typically galvanically corroded to the aluminum of the disc, not into the board inserts. Even if the screw is cross threaded into the inserts the screw should break free doing this prior to the insert breaking free of the board (otherwise the screw would've damaged the insert mount on installation). I've even been able to get out allen head screws that were stripped using this method. Dave
Mike T
I've used a similar technique to Puddy Tat with excellent results. Just don't get two bolts frozen in this manner
