Cousin of Beagle
cous - is that an atv or 4wd? how do you like it? It's a 2009 Prior 4WD 169 cm. My entire carving experience has been with: Option 149 Option 163 Option AT 155 (unknown brand) 153 Burton Vapor 157 Prior 4WD 169 Dynastar 3800 163 Yes, I like it. But my point of reference is that of a Third World farmer buying his first car. P.S. Snow was a bit crunchy at noon. Afternoon had a 1" layer of snowball-quality snow over firm softpack. BlueB
Crew: Roy, Karen, Boris Toys: WCRM 173w, Proton 156, "It's a secret 178" ;) Smasll crowd. Some dense fog in the late morning, clearing up later. Hard grippy pack in the morning, reasonable slush in the PM.
Cousin of Beagle
12:15 overflow parking. Not cool. 1:00 Couple of runs down Horizon, Collins, and Panorama. 2:15 Beverages & Grub 3:00 Back to the hill Snow was semi-slush over a bit of crunchiness. The crunchiness went away late in the afternoon. Panorama was definitely softer than Collins. Weapon of the Day: Prior 4WD 169. Lost another cant disk from the UPZ boots :(
Cousin of Beagle
Forecasted warmer temperatures than yesterday, so arrived earlier for the quick thaw to soft snow. Warm 8°C. Snow generally fast enough, although a bit sticky. Soft. Half the number of people as yesterday. Someone had a mishap, and there was a trail of blood 200 metres long. Wasn't sure which board I was going to ride. Choices were the F2 245 with DaKine bindings, or the Prior 169 with F2 bindings. Chose the Prior. BlueB
Bunch of slackers, I leave the town for few days and no one bothers to do reports?!? Few photos from Apr 21: .
BlueB
Roy and me decided to do the last assault on Grouse (well maybe last ;) ) Still lots of snow, no people on the work days, but very slushy snow (yet groomed), open only from noon, only the Cut, Side Cut and Pipeline (or is it Papertrail?) runs. Ah well... Visibility was ok, but not great at the moments. Had fun, as usual. I did a big switch high-side and wacked the back of my mellon pretty good. Some photos later... crucible
Dude, This recent crash on your melon means that it's like, the fourth time you've had your bell rung this season? I reckon it's time for you to get a new helmet.... Geo
BlueB
Yeah, this switch carving thing is gonna see me dead :( It's the 2nd serious hit (and the biggest) of the season. I might have to go to Whistler with my backup "Nazi" helmet... New helmet next season, absolutelly, I already started looking online a bit. Thanks for the concern, Geo. BlueB
Humble switch carves, prior to wacking the mellon... .
BlueB
The closing weekend of Blackomb - Scoob and me couldn't miss it... Slushfest and poor grooming, all over the mountain, yet not too sticky. Higher elevations still have lots of snow, but sketchy low down... I rode like a sissy, felt like getting sick and out of shape after few weeks of no riding. Scoob broke a boot buckle. Needles to say, we were really taking it easy. Ah, well, we had plenty of riding this season, this was just to say good buy to the snow... Few photos, maybe later...
BlueB
...probably last of the season. .

Cousin of Beagle
On the other hand, Grouse is open until Canada Day, and the Blackcomb Glacier is open until August! Not for me though.
