BlueB
I took my 3.5 year old son, Luka, sailing on a race dinghy (420), for the first time, yesterday afternoon. He behaved a lot better then I expected, without much jumping around or touching the things. He couldn't get used to my roll-tacking and kept on saying "What you're doing, dad?!". Other then that, he genuinly enjoyed and said he would go again. So, from now on, we'll be racing every Tuesday late afternoon! Oh, almost forgot - we did a clear sweep in all 3 short races, in a fleet of 5. Wind was nice and light, I hiked only few times for a short while. Now I have to figure out how to put a super long tiller extension, so I can get onto trapeze in the stronger stuff! :D

photodad2001
I'm starting my 10 yr. old windsurfing this year. We gave it a shot last year, but she didn't have the strength to uphaul the 3.5 trainging sail I had. This year I got her a Jr. Neilpryde 2.5 dacron/monofilm sail with jr. boom and jr. carbon 370 mast to boot. Done some dryland exercises and will be getting in the water this weekend. We try to keep the boat flat with my 3 year old nephew because he really doesn't like heel. I couldn't imagine roll tacking!
BlueB
I'm not talking really violent roll-tack, sheer in the water type of thing. Just a bit, to acellerate the slow boat out of the tack and to pop the tensioned top batten to the other side...
photodad2001
Here's a vid clip of my daughter on her first time out on the water. The wind was light and variable, but she was able to glide around a bit. Sailed out, tacked, and sailed back to shore first time without even getting her hair wet. <object width="320" height="240" ><param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" /><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" /><param name="movie" value="http://www.facebook.com/v/1428195515157" /><embed src="http://www.facebook.com/v/1428195515157" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="320" height="240"></embed></object>
