KingCrimson
Just bragging about our local Big Mountain experience a few weeks ago. :p Heading up tomorrow, should get some non-cell pics. BTW last pic is dealing with loose bindings after too many bumps and jumps!
Loc
That's some nice pow! I need to check out Baldy a few times this season. Didn't get a season pass for nothing
rjnakata
Is the first picture going up chair 4? When was the last time they opened that one?
KingCrimson
Chair 1 from the lot! Just got done dragging boards and skis on the snow. Was more like a glorified t bar than a chair for the first section! Had to drop about 2 feet to load, and then snow was above our heads on the sides..First time I'd ever seen snow on the lower mountain! Chair 4 has been open for 2 weeks now, never opened last year. Bumps were too firm last Friday, pics were the week before that. Thunder Mountain bumps were much better!
rjnakata
That's hard to believe. I'm new to Baldy and I told people the first lift is like a chair lift up a desert canyon. Wow. Nice pics.
KingCrimson
That's hard to believe. I'm new to Baldy and I told people the first lift is like a chair lift up a desert canyon. Wow. Nice pics. Don't worry. Calling it skiable terrain is less appropriate! It's never open! Man that place is awesome though. The math to break even on a $50 season pass is pretty simple! rjnakata
...and use that $50 season pass more often. So many choices now however! I hope it's like this every year. Thanks for posting those pics!
KingCrimson
My pleasure. Hopefully I'll get some better ones..and action pics tomorrow. Forgot all about it! Look closely.. The snowboarder in the chair in front of us has both feet clicked in. Her back leg was CNC'd and she had the biggest BTS ever! Not that I condone this, but in previous years you could pick up tickets on the cheap in April..We payed $20 for 6 full day tickets, but I don't know if they will be as easily acquired with the $50 passes.. By the way..Loc if you see this again..Check out the polarizing filter on my cell phone! That's crazy!
KingCrimson
Here's the best from today. Drive up was moist! Mandatory Myspace style self portrait The "pow" was soft and coming down in buckets..But certainly not coming down dry! Nice line and huck in the trees and rocks...The landing hurt! Bluebird! Plenty of steep slush in the trees! My old man railing his pow skis in not-pow! Enjoy! And be glad you didn't come along! Theo

carvingchef
nothing too fancy, just a honda shadow 600 i don't ride it nearly as much as my snowboards, maybe i should trade it for 3 coilers and a pair of sidewinders

KingCrimson
Pow was to be had if moguls were braved. Many moguls were braved! I had a blast in the bumps actually, but the treeeez were where I found all the fun! Hero groomers too, but I couldn't stand to lay trenches with 40* trees calling my name.
