lowrider
Why do all the standards apply to the helmet withstanding the impact and not the brain inside it??? I'M not volunteering i'm just asking. Is my helmet as good as i hope it is?? Are helmet standards good enough for todays sports ?
Kent
No....your brain is made of soft tissue.
Jonny
Your helmet is nowhere near as good as you hope it is. If you hit something hard like a lift tower at speed it's basically as good as a thick hat. It's QUITE good at preventing minor injuries but doesn't do much for the ones which result in major damage. The bad news is that making it better (basically making it a high-end motorcycle helmet) reduces the likelihood of brain damage but increases the likelihood of neck injuries, so it's a trade-off. eajracing
mine sees the most use as someone lowers the chairlift bar before i'm ready. its great for that.
Neil Gendzwill
Your helmet is nowhere near as good as you hope it is.Yup. Read this: as Jonny said, it's worth wearing one, but don't count on it saving your bacon for anything serious.
