bobble
1/3/2010... me, trent and greg. very cold early this morning. i think it was -15F. no wind. we were out for 5-6 runs (45 minutes?) before we took our first of three breaks. my ass was getting freezer burn sitting ont he chair lift and it was painful. conditions eventually warmed up. the rundown: lookout no terrain park! practically owned the run. there were a few skiers and a lone boarder who had issues with right-hand goofys (shortly after greg departed). spent 75% of the time on lookout. not sure how to compare the snow. trent and greg will have to opine on this one. for me, it was definitely fast on the run. the snow felt firm, maybe icy in spots. down near the bottom on skiers left the snow got chunky. there were ice cubes popping out from beneath the snow. they clinked when i slid through them on my stomach. the run looked great from the chalet -- all you could see were trenches. some pictures of trent... you can see out the snow broke at the apex due to speed. moving on... harleys mellow. dan's dive something wrong... ice down the middle? we only did the run once. grade C- for slightly less than caring. saw it later in the afternoon and it looked like dan's log-of-crap. bakke not sure about the run. when i rode it early in the morning, the place was in shadows and so i was cautious. later in the afternoon it sucked. too many ice testicles. dykes run (insert joke here) just okay. duds had moguls. didn't go there. not because of the moguls. jon jon there are two jumps set up on jon jon. greg did go off a jump. snow was ok. my calf still bothers me. going back to work and give my calf time to heal. trent
thanks to greg and bob for coming down to play. the 3 of us were probably the largest group there today. it was empty! no terrain park on lookout; always a fun day. the snow was definitely hard. i tried to keep falling to a minimum. there were some chunky bits underneath, but most of the run was great. jonny o. (bear) misses us riding there. asked us to come back and ride more often. he's also looking for a skwal or skinny alpine board for one of his adaptive skiers. 160 - 175 cm range, if i remember correctly. -trent

He used to ski on one ski, with sliders on his poles. I thought about him when I had the skwal, that it would be prefect for him. He could then use regular ski poles as skwal riders do, and would not have had a leg flapping in the breeze. Too bad I got rid of the skwal, I could have lent it to them to try out. Bubba
1/23/10 Parking lot empty for good reason. Snow sucked. Was hard and fast in some spots and too soft in others. Thought I would hit dirt on some turns I dug so deep. Each turn, the snow seemed to throw me out of it. Very flat light, and speed bumps from the groomer all the way across each run. Lookout seemed the worst. Hope conditions are better for MES. Got the bad vibe going on tonight....see everyone on the 27th!
