monodude
I went up today and with 8+" in the last two days the groom was fantastic for the carve. Firm, some scraped, but no ice. After several runs I'm getting to the top of the lower chair when I see a run that is nothing but trenches ???? OOOHHH AAAHHH someone to play with... Turns out a group of 12, I think, from Steamboat were race training this week and next. All were really good riders. I counted 7 Kessler's, WOW, in one place. Several were trying out Dabello ski boots also. Interesting... Of course I had to step-up my game. I was riding the Volkl Monocarver again today. I'm not as afraid of it anymore. Damn that board is fast. I'm getting used to the 14.5 radius and I'm loving it. (3RD Day on it). I'll be ready for you Colorado guys next season. Maybe even SES ???? Do they allow freaks ??? On another note a BIG THANKS to all the Co guys for tolerating the MonoDude, And for helping me learn the true meaning of "Trench Digging" YEAH ! Don Feed the addiction... photodad2001
Wow!!!! Right now I couldn't even comment on anything on the snow. I just spent the last few days harnesing the wind around here. We had an epic 30-40 mph winds with gusts up to 50. I've spent the last week shortening my harness lines and planing on my gianormous mistral comp with my 7.0 Hood River sail, being overpowered at times. It's been cold... water and air temps. Ran into a San Fran boy who strayed from home. Never thought he'd run into a fellow sailor in the "O" state (Ohio). Life is like a box of chocolates.... Ya' never know who you'll meet. LeeW
I think Im gonna pull out my Lib Tech Innercourse, because Im not too keen to scratch my Madd 158. Tho I suspect the snow is still -plenty- but they sure do melt fast this time of the year.

Tho I suspect the snow is still -plenty- but they sure do melt fast this time of the year. The snow coverage is great Lee.. I would at least bring the Madd so you can switch to it if you feel the urge. Since cell phones are useless at Abasin, I'll just find you guys on the hill (17th and 18th). Don't forget about the back... the new bowl is carve heaven.
boostertwo
As many have said the riding continues to be outstanding: plenty of coverage with frequent infusions of fresh snow. Here's one run from Thedo Remmelink's spring training camp shot yesterday (May 16) so you can see for yourself: <center> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://blip.tv/scripts/pokkariPlayer.js?ver=2008010901"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="http://blip.tv/syndication/write_player?skin=js&posts_id=917782&source=3&autoplay=true&file_type=wmv&player_width=&player_height="></script> <div id="blip_movie_content_917782"> <a rel="enclosure" href="http://blip.tv/file/get/Snowfun4you-ABasinCarvingSession587.flv" onclick="play_blip_movie_917782(); return false;"><img title="Click to play" alt="Video thumbnail. Cindy Kleh
Cell phones aren't totally useless at the Basin. The higher up the mountain you go, the better they work.

The flat spot between the top of Exhibition lift and the bottom of Norway lift works pretty well too. Coming out to play this weekend C? boostertwo
Just in case you don't have the hookup for free lift tix, here's a site that I've used when friends are in town: $24 adult and $11 kids. <img src="http://i31.tinypic.com/fu2g60.jpg" border="0" alt="Josh, A-Basin, CO."> Please note you can't purchase 'day of'--you need to book the day before at the latest. Seb
Very good videos. My personal guess on who are some peolple on the video. In their riding order 1st: Blue jacket: Thedo, the coach of the Steamboat Race Team 2nd: A girl 3rd: Jacket with the red shoulder, I believe I know him but can't remember his name 4th: White jacket : Madeline Wiencke 5th: All black with yellow Helmet: Michael Trapp ( aka MTrappy on BOL ) 6th: Another girl 7th: Light blue pant: Darren Ratcliffe 8th: All black w/ black helmet: Benjamin Fairchild III These are my guess, I could be wrong. If you looked carefully, Michael, Darren and Ben are riding Dalbello ski boots. They were not during the race season... Sorry again for 2 out of 3 girls, I can recognized them. minnesnowta
Actually, you had it a little wrong...this is the actual order of riders: 1st: Blue jacket: Thedo REMMELINK, the coach of the Steamboat Race Team 2nd: Green Jacket: Callan Chythlook-Sifsof 3rd: Jacket with the red shoulder: We're not sure of his name either, but he just showed up at our house one day trying to sell us over priced Kesslers (aka speedracerjvb on BOL) 4th: White jacket : Madeline Wiencke (Mimi) 5th: All black with yellow Helmet and NO MORE HAIR: Mike Trapp 6th: Grey Jacket: Cassie Casanova 7th: Light blue pant: Darren Ratcliffe 8th: All black w/ black helmet and flowing locks: Benjamin Fairchild III By the way Thedo Remmelink was coaching us this week...next week our other coach Adam Casanova will be here as well (aka casanovaracing on BOL)

LeeW
I went out last night and did the midnight snowboarding under full moon from Loveland Pass. It was a good session. As of now, Im headin' back up to A-Basin to go for a ride or two via my hardboots. Hope to see you guys there.
LeeW
Jeez. THe parking is a bitch. I had to cut line, cuz I went down to the end of the parking lot, and saw an openings and thought "why the f--k is there a line for a parking lot?" So I hauled ass, and cutted line and got the spot. And get this, by the time I was walking to the lift, saw more spots, and the line is STILL the same. f--king inept parking attendents, tho I do appreciate their jobs. Anyways, went for one run. Was too sticky and slushy -- enjoyed it, yes, but not my style. I asked for it since I came up at 1130 or so. Went for one run. Couldn't find any other hardbooters. Might come up again tmw, but earlier cuz im -NOT- planning to do midnight run again tonite under full moon. Well, maybe. ^_^
