Guest mischifbro
I've been snowboarding longer than I can remember and have always envied the tracks carvers lay down. I have a season pass to jay peak and would love it if anyone would be willing to help me get on a carve board for a day or even just an afternoon. Thanks. tex1230
I think you miss Jack's point - the largest gathering of carvers on the East coast is coming up in 2 weeks at Stowe. Come join us and you'll get all the help you can handle.
Guest mischifbro
My apologies, I’m still getting used to the forum, ill do my best to make it to stowe. Do I have to register or anything to demo equipment or is that just for lessons?
cliffh
1 - fill in your profile; where are you from, where do you ride 2 - hopefully you've reviewed http://www.bomberonline.com/articles/welcome_center.cfm 3 - if you can get to the Starting Gate by Stratton they should be able to set you up with demo equipment. Ask for Shaun. That's the only place I know of where you can demo everything. I highly recommend going to the Starting Gate and getting fitted properly for a pair of boots as this is the single most important element of your set up. Depending on your budget you can pick up used stuff off the board or on ebay or go new. Just browse around the forums - there's plenty of discussion on every subject under the sun. Just don't get a full bore race board to learn on like I tried to do!
JDB
That's great you edited your profile with your Location so riders local to you can help you. Starting Gate would be great place to check into, and the East Coast Expression Session will have a huge amount of talent attending. The ECES is from March 3 to 9. According to GOOGLE MAPS, Potsdam to Stratton is 217 miles. If you are thinking of going consider a 20-mile detour by making a left turn in Tupper Lake on the way down and go to Lake Placid to watch a World Cup SBX and PGS race March 1 to 3. The schedule is at http://www.fis-ski.com/pdf/2008/SB/7258/2008SB7258PROG.pdf You will get to see some of the riders that will be at the Olympics in 2010 without a trip to Vancouver and the $150 ticket. If you were ever near Montreal (175km) I'd point you to Sharks in Laval. In mid January they had some used boards and more than 20 new alpine boards in stock and at least 3 models of boots and bindings. I don't think they demo though you can call them at 1-800-473-5543 or 450-663-5543. If you were local to me I would send you to my home hill, which has Deluxe 225 boots from size 24 to 30, F2 boards and bindings for demo on the hill. This little hill is home to over 25 plate riders so stuff is constantly being swapped or sold. I am within 45 minutes of our supplier YYZCANUCK.com in Toronto and another 30 to the home of Coiler. We don't have the altitude but we do have the attitude and atmosphere for carving. JDB
