I too normally ride at the Brim, usually quite a few carvers there ... though right now I am at Copper Colorado for the next 2 weeks. How was your tryout at Centennial? That big old Prior may have trouble getting up enough steam at Centennial to bend an arc. It was a slow learning process for me. One thing I did in the beginning was mount my plates on a stiff freeride board via a suggestion from a more seasoned rider who said "change one thing at a time". It worked for me at the start. One suggestion if I could ... Don't reach for the snow ... in fact bend your upper body away from it. Keep an eye open for a more flexy All Mtn or Free Carve Coiler or F2 Silberpfeil or something. They a lot friendlier at lower learning speeds. Get in touch with me later in March if there is any snow left in Ontario, I would be glad to help if I can. (Disclaimer- I am all self taught) -Doug

Actually Pat, I had pretty good results with the demo program this year .... proficient soft booters trying out plates and a couple of old schoolers trying the new stuff. Even had a guy try out my Big Black Kessler. Same size boots and regular, easy swap. He was stoked, as were the others. I do hope that it translates to sales for Dave and Andrea who supply the gear. I don't know how small you need to go, but Burton Race Plates can be made smaller than standard by reversing the bails in the mounting blocks. ( pop the bails out of the block, spin the block 180 degrees then re-insert the bails, remount the block to baseplate in reversed to normal position.) Bails are then toward the disk side of the screws holding the blocks. By doing this to both heel and toepiece can reduce the minumum size by near an inch.

If that old board is 4x4, then any good shop will have a box of old 4x4 Burton disks kicking around in the back... just ask. Softboot Burton disks work.

Used it under plexi plates on metal boards for years... bought mine at CTC on sale for about $6.95 for 15"x11" sheet. Stays flexy to -30. I won't cook on it though. I don't think some will understand what that product is. CTC# 042-0900-8

Le Massif in Quebec has the best menu I have ever seen! I don't even bother to pack a lunch. I am sure they would have a tasty vegetarian selection. (is "tasty vegetarian" an oxymoron?)

Squuse me Sir......I speek Lumberjack It shore is purtyer then mine, but some things are similar, both are 4x4 and both have enjoyment rings round the thredy thingys. Difference is mine was handmade in Burkton from parts imported from Europe by a Quebequois.

Zoltan- Order an All-Mountain board from Bruce just like mine.....I rode like a Hero till a skiier tried to take the nose off it while I was toeside....could have been real ugly. Bruce can it be fixed?? If not I would like to order another one... as I could carve with confidence in places I never had before....could tighten the radius to round towers and trees, off camber heelside turns were do-able for me for a change.....a beautiful, responsive, grippy work of art. I miss it!!

Believe it or Not, you are living in the middle of one of the biggest hardbooter rider areas in North America. Right here in Southern Ontario you have all the gear at YYZCANUCK, custom boards at Coiler, and 3 of the 4 National Team riders are from here. Last time I was in Squire Johns ski shop in Collingwood they had Prior boards Bomber Bindings, and Deeluxe boots in stock.( Can somone confirm?). You will find Plate Riders at Mount St. Louis Moonstone, Ostler Bluff, Blue Mtn, and large groups at Beaver Valley and the Ontario Alpine Team trains at Mansfield. I would suggest that you Demo first, then think about what you want. You may indeed work your way up to a Kessler, but I don't think you would like it for learning!!

TSC in Bowmanville is where I bought my last one in December. I would bet the CO-OP in Orono at Taunton Rd. would have them too. Are you getting out this way anymore? Oh Yea ...I just realized you are AT the Olympics, not watching the tube like me.

Other than the grounds being too clean, you would never know it was models. Glad he put himself in some of the photos so we could see how it was done.

My wife always packed a great lunch for the family and friends. But not at Le Massif.....great gourmet food, good price, grand view. We don't even bother packing a lunch when riding there.

If you are in Toronto why not DEMO a setup at Brimacombe http://www.brimacombe.ca/ (the new name of the Oshawa Ski Club). The Pro Shop has DeLuxe 225's in full mondo sizes from 24 to 30, Donek Pilots from 147?(I think) to 173 with F2 bindings, all supplied by Dave and Andrea from YYZCANUCK. I check in at the shop at 10:00am and 2:00pm every day I am there, that is most Wed, Fri, and weekends. Enable your contact info and contact either Arcrider or me to get set up. I am away this week to the World Cup in Quebec City but will be back next week. Arcrider coaches mornings on the weekend but may be available weekend afternoons and weekdays, if it isn't windy.

Nope, not me....I'm off ot Quebec City to watch the World Cup PGS. It's the last chance to qualify for the Olympics....lots of hungry riders.
