Pandora-internet radio that you program

Made me think of this seeing the other day.

I am listening to Pandora 24-7 these days. It's awesome. You enter in music that you like and it selects other trax by the same artists or derivations of like Phil Lesh if you like the Dead and other jam bands.

Give a thumbs up if you like and a thumbs down to kill other derivations that are similar. I have heard many new songs by some of my favorite artists in the last few days.

You cannot download or play a certain song, so in that respect it is radio.

Couple new music with the JBL subwoofer (Creature) system and my computer never sounded so good.

Today is a good day.

Hey Willy good to have you back first off. Sorry I missed that thread as I wasn't even remotely interested in internet radio then. Pandora has changed me.

Finding the goods and lots of them.

I'll go back and read through that a little more.

While you might not be able to easily DL a specific song, you can DL the audio stream using a streaming audio recorder. If you create a Pandora station using that specific song, it's easy to 'catch' it when it comes around in the rotation.

I've been using Replay Music which separates and auto-tags the music. Import to your Ipod/mp3 player to enjoy at your convenience.

At least for now, you can take it with you.

Good God I lead a sheltered existence sometime. I didn't even know this was possible. Looks to be PC only. I didn't see anything for Mac on the site, and many references to PC. At this point I don't feel the need to download as I am creating these cool stations that are much better than random cd playing by far.

Thanks for the heads up.

Yeah, when you're near an internet connection it's better to listen to Pandora directly--the better to discover new and interesting music. I mainly listen to the recorded stream when I'm on the slopes or driving--places with no easy internet access. FYI there are Mac-compatible soft/shareware recorders out there.

just got this today :

Hi, it's Tim one more time...

Disaster looms! Yesterday a federal court denied a plea to delay the massive increase in rates webcasters must pay the record labels. This means that, absent immediate Congressional action, the new ruinous royalty rates will be going into effect on Monday threatening the future of all internet radio.

This is a very dire situation and I'm writing to ask one more time for your support. The effort you've made over the past four months has been extraordinary and has forced the rapid introduction of the bill, but the committee process has been sluggish and we need to once again remind the representatives of the urgency of this issue. This is perhaps the most important phone call you can make for us.

Please call your Congressional representatives in the House and Senate and ask them to force immediate action on the Internet Radio Equality Act and bring the bill to a vote. It is critical that their phones begin ringing off the hook starting early in the morning. If it's busy, please try again later.

Congressperson William D. Delahunt: (202)225-3111

Senator John F. Kerry: (202) 224-2742

Senator Edward M. Kennedy: (202) 224-4543

I'm sorry that we have to keep asking you for this - but it's our only recourse. We are no match for the legal and legislative strength of the RIAA and we need your help.

Thank you again.

Gratefully,

I got one from Tim as well. It sucks if they royalty this out of existence when I just found it. I called all my reps.

In Idaho if anyone is curious this is who you call ( at least for the south central part)

Congressperson Michael K. Simpson: (202)225-5531

Senator Larry E. Craig: (202) 224-2752

Senator Mike Crapo: (202) 224-6142

I'm sorry that we have to keep asking you for this - but it's our only recourse. We are no match for the legal and legislative strength of the RIAA and we need your help.

Thank you again.

I blame Metallica for starting all this greedy crap that the RIAA pulls with internet music even though RIAA has been enforcing the politics of music industry greed for along long time. Since those greedy bastards went before congress I have not allowed them to be played in my car or my house. They (RIAA)will hunt down a grandma in Michigan to sue her for her grandaughter's file sharing. It's the American way for big business to steamroll the little guy and take our rights away in the process.

  • 1 year later...

In case you're interested, here's an update on Pandora/internet radio:

IMO the proposed .5 hour audio commercials a la NPR webcasts would be an unfortunate intrusion, tho' I must admit I don't ever look at the on-screen adverts while listening.

On a brighter note, snow this weekend above 10k'!
