Blackbird
Do you have to put them in a file guide or can you just do it free hand? If your file guide can open enough to mount them.. for sure.. I've been doing that for ages to touch my edges up with a bit of precision.. They tend to lose their abrasive qualities after a few passes but you can freshen them up on a belt sander with a bit of care... so they don't end up all crooked etc... Fastskiguy
Do you have to put them in a file guide or can you just do it free hand? I just free hand it with the diamond stone....but the guide isn't a bad idea either. I like the coarse stone best, just a few light passes and the burrs are history :)
Mike T
I've had a couple of different people recommend to me free-handing unless you can use the same guide that was used to create the original bevel.
Gleb
Bob Dea showed me the multi-tuner on tognar.com it fits all the diamond stones nicely. In fact, i just finished touching up my boards for a subzero day tomorrow.
Jrobb
I just freehand the stone. Haven't use diamons stones but I use regular deburring stone to freshen up the edges when they dull or after a filing. My bevel guide won't fit my stone. I also use freehand to remove hardened nicks. Mostly personal preference though with your comfort level of precision. J
