MJDC25 Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 I'm a long time softbooter whos caught the carving bug after seeing hardbooters in Vermont the past few years. I'm from the midwest and heading out to ME to hopefully board this coming thurs-sunday, i'll be between sugarloaf, saddleback, sunday river, basicly wherever I can find the best/any snow. Over the summer I picked up a pretty beat up 167 fp and a used prior 174 awd as well as some raichle 125's and td2's. assuming there is going to be some snow anyone going to be around that could maybe give me some pointers? I was hoping to be able to play around with them some before this trip but the mid to high 40 degree weather w've been having ruined that. also which board would I be better off starting out on? I'm 6'2 195. Thanks Mike Quote
trailertrash Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 the loaf got 4 inches this morning. keep an eye on: http://www.sugarloaftoday.com/ and the forum attached to it. as well as: http://www.k2trav.blogspot.com/ and this: http://www.wskitv.com/quadcam.shtml look the bare spots are almost covered! i will be trying to hit the loaf sat/sun if the weather permits. oh, id start with the prior on your first day. john Quote
Jack M Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 Yes, definitely the Prior. At Sugarloaf, do yourself a favor and take a lesson from the one and only Erik Beckman. Quote
MJDC25 Posted January 9, 2007 Author Report Posted January 9, 2007 Thanks for the advice, I used the email that was supplied as a contact for Erik on the bomber site hopefully I can get one. And I'll defiently use the Prior to learn since it seems to be the concensus. I'm hoping to hit up the loaf hopefully Sat and Sun. I'll probably be at Sunday River Thurs and Sunday River or Saddleback on Fri depending on how motivated my friends are. Mike Quote
MJDC25 Posted January 10, 2007 Author Report Posted January 10, 2007 Does anyone have a better way to contact Erik? I havent gotten any response from the email address given Thanks Mike Quote

MJDC25 Posted January 16, 2007 Author Report Posted January 16, 2007 It went really well, I spent the rest of the day on the prior and was feeling really comfortable going heelside to toeside and by the end of the day my toeside to heelside was just about there. I managed to lock into a bunch of toeside turns and 1-2 good heelside turns without my tail washing out. I can't wait to get out on it again hopefully I get out some more this year. Good to meet you on the hill and thanks for the tips. Did you end up trying the loaf yesterday? Quote
trailertrash Posted January 16, 2007 Report Posted January 16, 2007 we did, it was dumping snow most of the day. it got bumped up early but wasnt bad. legs were shot after the previous 2 days of riding. next time when you fly, head in the other direction! Quote
