  1. Just arrived at whitefish, here until next friday(Jan 11). Brought my soft setup as well as my 4wd 174 (which hasn't been ridden in 2 years for a multitude of reasons). Hope to get it out this week, assuming I can locate a 5mm hex wrench which seems to have disappeared from my boot bag in transit :(. Anyone around? Mike

Trying to plan an early season trip with a little time off, any places to target or avoid with the early season conditions?
  3. 2 Burton FP 159 Asyms? It this for real? Haven't been on in quite awhile so probably already discussed but too good to pass up. http://search.the-house.com/?keywords=FP
  4. Mike and Skully great meeting with both of you and thank you for all the pointers. I really enjoyed riding with some people who knew the mountain! Martin Sorry I didn't see you again on the slopes but good to run into a fellow great plainer. Maybe we can meet up sometime if we get some more snow. Mike
  5. Tried to send both of you email but forum says you have prefs set against it. I fly out tonight with the parents and sister, will be riding tomorrow, sat, and at least half of sun. Would love for some people to ride with as I am sure the family will tire out long before I do, as well as to get some pointers. I am staying about 2 miles from Canyons. Red and grey jacket, white helmet, blue prior. Drop me an email through my profile and I'll get you guys a phone number. Thanks Mike
  6. Mike I'm staying about 2 miles away at the best western, would love to ride this weekend. Mike

    ME Jan2-Jan5

Correct, hopefully conditions are a little better this time around, it was looking great until this past weekend. I don't have much of a plan of where I will be yet besides staying in Rangeley, so I can probably try to meet up on Sunday. Mike
  10. Mine is definitely not a spur, I've had it for at least 10 years and have had my share of athletic trainers poking at it, its really just a muscle. I have also only had hard boots for about 3 years, but you are right I really do need to get some custom liners, but with a combined riding of about 2 weeks a year I've been dragging my feet
  11. I've got those bumps too and when I used to run track the trainers would freak out every time they saw me for the first time, thinking i had something wrong, then id show them the other foot and they'd be like oh well as long as both feet have them i guess. I've never seen anyone else with them, glad I'm not alone. Never bothered me except when i wear hard boots.
  12. After a one year hiatus, I'm going to try going back out to ME, seems like you guys are actually getting some snow. I'll probably be floating around between sunday river, saddle back and the loaf. I know its still holiday season but my free lodging heads back to chicago with me on the 5th. Anyone going to be around?

Thanks for the reply, a change of plans after 6 years of boarding with friends and by myself the parents decided they want to come a long so I will be out there Jan 29-Feb 1. Would love to stay at solitude or Snowbird, but looks like Park City might have more for them, ie beginner stuff, snowshoeing, xc skiing, and best chance for meeting up with some carvers. Very open for suggestions, their only requests was a hot tub at the hotel and a run they wont fall off of. Will have a car so i can move around some if need be. Thanks Mike

Southwest has some great deals going on right now to Salt Lake, and i have some vacation days to use up. anyone going to be around? Any recommendations on which resorts? Thanks Mike
  15. I thought I was going to be able to make SES for a few days but the week it falls on is a bad week for work so no one can take off. and as for the 19th I dont think ill be out there quite that quick, last min MLK day tickets are rough. Thanks for the invites though Mike
  16. Thor and bluebird, thanks again for meeting up with me and for the pointers, I had a blast. I hope to get out there atleast once more this season. Thanks again Mike
  17. Ill be at Winter Park Thurs-Sun 1/3-1/6, anyone going to be up there? would love to ride with some other hardbooters. I'm linking my turns and doing a few edge changes while crossing the hill, but always looking for others advice to help me improve. Mike
  18. Newbie Hardbooter w a day and a half on plates in the ice slopes of Maine + an hour w/ beckman getting me dialed in. If anyone is interested in riding/letting me chase them down the hill let me know. Mike
  19. Just found a ridicliously cheap ticket for 290 roundtrip chicago to aspen getting me there 9:45am sat and leaving 4:15 tues (hopefully allowing me to get in just about 4 days of boarding w/ only3 nights making this trip actually possible w/ my budget and work schedule), If I can get the days off work I think this newbie is in, now I jsut have to figure out where to stay w/o bankrupting myself.:D sorry for the edit typoed the nights
  20. It went really well, I spent the rest of the day on the prior and was feeling really comfortable going heelside to toeside and by the end of the day my toeside to heelside was just about there. I managed to lock into a bunch of toeside turns and 1-2 good heelside turns without my tail washing out. I can't wait to get out on it again hopefully I get out some more this year. Good to meet you on the hill and thanks for the tips. Did you end up trying the loaf yesterday?
  21. Thanks I'll give them a call today and congrats on the mod position. I may be at saddle back fri and sun but I fly out mon. so thats a no go on the loaf for that day
  22. Does anyone have a better way to contact Erik? I havent gotten any response from the email address given Thanks Mike
  23. Thanks for the advice, I used the email that was supplied as a contact for Erik on the bomber site hopefully I can get one. And I'll defiently use the Prior to learn since it seems to be the concensus. I'm hoping to hit up the loaf hopefully Sat and Sun. I'll probably be at Sunday River Thurs and Sunday River or Saddleback on Fri depending on how motivated my friends are. Mike
  24. I'm a long time softbooter whos caught the carving bug after seeing hardbooters in Vermont the past few years. I'm from the midwest and heading out to ME to hopefully board this coming thurs-sunday, i'll be between sugarloaf, saddleback, sunday river, basicly wherever I can find the best/any snow. Over the summer I picked up a pretty beat up 167 fp and a used prior 174 awd as well as some raichle 125's and td2's. assuming there is going to be some snow anyone going to be around that could maybe give me some pointers? I was hoping to be able to play around with them some before this trip but the mid to high 40 degree weather w've been having ruined that. also which board would I be better off starting out on? I'm 6'2 195. Thanks Mike
