skategoat Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 Looking for a half day of hardboot, freecarve instruction between Jan. 11 and Jan. 14. I'm looking to focus on making smoother, more rounded turns as opposed to racing/GS technique. I actually want to go slower, not faster. Any recommendations? Quote
outsider Posted January 7, 2007 Report Posted January 7, 2007 There's a guy there named martin drayton that works in ski school that i would recommend. I dont know if he is still working there, but it's worth looking up. Quote
yyzcanuck Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 Any recommendations? No joking... look-up Phil Fell, Dave Tille and Bill Bordy. They may be race oriented but they've probably learned to carve pretty well too. They're also a barrel of laughs. Quote
Skully Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 Did you try here: Instructor Search Any yes Martin is still at Park City, and is an excellent instructor, world champion slalom skateboarder, and all-around cool dude. Quote
Sinecure Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 Marty Frankland is going to be there at the same time and he's been looking to connect with Martin for a lesson as well. Perhaps you guys could share the cost and have a semi-private lesson. Search for him on skype (Martin Frankland) or he's franklands at bigpond dot com. He's in PC now, and staying for a few more weeks. Quote
skategoat Posted January 8, 2007 Author Report Posted January 8, 2007 I sent Marty Frankland a couple of emails on just this subject. Waiting to hear back from him. Also will try to meet up with the hardbooter crew. Thanks for the recommendations. I know about Instructor search but was looking for personal recommendations. Thanks again. Quote
philfell Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 I'll be in Qubec on those dates. Martin Dryton is a great guy also Gregg McCormick is an istructor at PC with a good hardboot foundation. Bordy is also around to give tips, he's easily contacted here or through the hardbooter site. Quote

Skully Posted January 8, 2007 Report Posted January 8, 2007 Marty Frankland is going to be there at the same time and he's been looking to connect with Martin for a lesson as well. I just rode with Marty (Frankland) this morning..... I didn't know he was looking to connect with Martin (Drayton). I was talking with Martin (Drayton) as I walked up to Marty (Frankland). Martin (Drayton) was on his way to work, so I said c-ya to Martin (Drayton) and headed over to talk with Marty (Frankland). If I had known Marty (Frankland) was looking to hook up with Martin (Drayton) I would have introduced them to each other... Oh well. How's that for a mouth-full? Quote
philfell Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 Dave we'll be in Le Ralais, for the next Nor-Am, you should come check it out. Quote
