Chubz
I know many of you are already riding. Here in PA, we have had warm temps until Friday night, when a cold front set in. Now they can finally make some snow and get us riding. Until today I really didnt think about riding because it has been so warm here. With the cold, I began getting my boards, boots and clothing ready today. With that, I am setting up my bindings (TD1'S). as I break the allen screw with my "t" allen, I smell a smell that I know, but cant place where I have smelt it before.. What is actually happening to create that smell and where elkse would I have smelled it.

AaronG
What I want to know is why the screws weren't loosened at the end of last year?? I always back off the tension of the screws that go in the inserts. I just don't like keeping the screws tightened down through the heat/cool cycles of summer. I do the same with my snow ski binding release adjustment screws. I think alot of folks here do the same as I. See this thread for more info: http://www.bomberonline.com/VBulletin/showthread.php?t=12869 I also back off the tension whenever I wax my boards. Picked up a set of different boots this summer and changing binding size to accomodate new boots. I should have been more clear on my first post. Thanks It does however smell like sulfur. FTA2R
one of the experts can chime in here. i have no idea if this is the problem but Sean did tell me this re: sulfur smell " I would definitely watch how tight you are making the screws. If they are difficult to loosen, ie take a lot of torque, break free and give off a sulfer odor, you're overtightening your screws" obvoiusly be careful. hope the smell / problem disappears. Thor VonRippington
....now that Fin is back from Utah maybe the Grand Poobah will step in with the answer. I once asked him the exact question a couple or three years ago. He had a really technical answer that involved something about holding you knees apart while unscrewing the bolts.
