  1. BTW, leonel will do a set of foam liners even if it’s not the ones he sells. Had this conversation with him in January.

Zips are good too. Those intuitions I was yappin’ about in the other thread are likely the best in the thermo fit wrap type. Big fan of the intuition plug as well, that one works well where I’m looking for more volume, soft boots and anything that isn’t Head stratos pros for example.

  2. Okay, so, it’s a copy but with some very key changes.

Looking at the shells I thought at first it was just the upper boot but from this it seems there are intentional changes to the Lower boot and sure enough, compare the mountain slope heel to the s5....... completely different boot.

kinda seems like they are looking at it like they were trying to improve on it.

Almost the opposite of what mountain slope did but started from the same point.

Knock-off products are a pet peeve of mine.  If I bought these I'd spend the whole time wondering if they're really as good as the real thing.  I don't like how the buckles have the toothed part on the cable.  The use of the Deeluxe forward lean selector makes no sense to me because it prevents the ankle hinge from hinging.

Yup, BTS is the answer to that part(probably anyway)

its a knock off of a knock off, How far is this gonna go?

i can live with the cable setup I think.

Overall it’s probably a good thing, at least it suggests that the Asian and maybe even European markets are seeing some growth.

I’m not sure how I feel about the blatant knock off aspect but on the other hand if they are good, northwave clearly has no interest in the IP or they’d of gone after mountain slope.

More boot choices at sane prices is a win for alpine snowboarding both in terms of the end user and growth.

  4. Okay, so this liner is the stiffest wrap liner I’ve ever used. It’s tall (maybe too tall for some) and has semi hard panels that are strategically placed.

Its a medium volume liner, with my 3E foot i may not be able to make it work in every shell but where it’s constructed more like a traditional ski boot liner it should be easier to work with in some ways.

Only have a few runs on them but I’m really liking these. Next best thing to a zip fit or or an injected liner.

Because of my wide feet my go to is the intuition plug with softboots, it’s nice to have another decent option under $300!

The problem with the plug is it’s not that durable.

  5. From last year, 8-10 days on them, liners have one day on them as I put in my injection liners. Not broken down or anything, in pretty good shape. $160 shipped CONUS

    These are us men’s 11.5  (29- 295)

will add pics tonight or tomorrow.

  6. So now you can either 1, buy a hangl

    2, buy a vist

    3, buy any 4x4 plate

4, buy my Kessler and hangl, and you have a spare board, rock board or whatever. The board has seen better days but the plate is fine.

    @Corey

Maybe prune these posts regarding pilot but move them somewhere as there’s some archaic but useful info here. Not entirely fair to the seller, sort of a thread jack.

@Pilot10010, why not just buy a 4x4 plate so you know it will definitely fit?

Agreed, less issues, I can tell you this, a UPM boiler plate won’t fit that board unless there’s more inserts hidden under the topsheet which some do, I don’t have a board with hangl inserts that accommodate the first system which the carriers had no offset so you needed inserts for both regular and goofy.

    Hello,

Would your Apex plate fits my Kessler 162?

Does that thing have hangl holes and what was the other one, vist?

IIRC hangl is almost the same as UPM but the spacing is different BUT some plates could accommodate it some times.

Hangl spacing it’s self can be variable. Have seen hangls that were set closer together than others.

Damn, I was hoping to get a more gradual decamber from further back toward the front binding. Guess that ain't happenin!

That’s less extreme than what I was asking, he might have something from another shape?

anyone asked bruce for more than his usual amount of camber? responses/results?

does the amount of camber differ on his models? is it dictated by rider weight?

I ask because i really enjoy the energy coming out of turns on a board with substantial camber, and i'm thinking of asking for more on my next build.

    thx!!

I think it depends on if he has a mold built with more. He might as he’s been at it since the old days when boards had way more.

I asked him to build a board that was mostly rockered and he really didn’t want to do it. He said that’s the modification that really runs him into hours.

163 SG Full Race Titan. I loved mine, except that I don't love racecourse sidecuts that require extra input to complete turns. Still, an amazingly fun board! If you like that open ended sidecut, you should consider trying one (provided you're in the rider wt range). I definitely see more SG's on a NorAm race course than any other board. Might be just because they have similar performance for less money than Kessler or Oxess? World cup races seem to have a more even mix of the top boards. Virtually all SGs are standard builds, so you can pick up a used one and know that it will be the same build as any other used one.

There seem to be a number of custom K162s on the used market that are built for women (smaller) racers, and they feel like they have a tighter sidecut and softer flex. A telltale sign might be if they have a narrower waist than the  stock 20cm....But, you asked about "not Kessler"...

For a new custom build, that costs less than a new stock SG, the Thirst SF 162 is easily as good or better than the 162SG I had. The first time I rode a Thirst (a Superconductor) the feel of the carve reminded me of the feel of a Kessler carve (I've owned a few Ks). One difference that I liked was it was easier to complete turns compared to the typical racecourse sidecut. And you won't want to put those Hangles on it, even if it had the inserts.

I think one of you stick-in-the-mud Yankee skeptics has to be the first to get on a Thirst. And I say this with all due affection, having grown up in RI,  lived in VT and spent time sailing the coast of Maine. I know,  you're thinking how can some hillbilly from Montucky come out of nowhere and make boards comparable with the best boards out there? And where is Montucky exactly? It doesn't even sound like a real place...

I haven't ridden an Angrry . Only rode an MK and 163 REV once on rough ice. Not the best conditions to form an opinion. But they all might be contenders.

Ahh, the small kesslers for me finish really well. It’s the 185, that one, yeah I hear you on not finishing the turn. It might be that my current 162 was built for a racer that wasn’t chris Klug so he was probably around 150-170, softish flex.

    The wide SG looks enticing!
