  1. One thing noteworthy on that one is the tail is a little different than the production boards that’s why we have it. It was in the wrong place on the camber block. I’ve not been on that one to see how much it changes it but I suspect that the tail will feel mildly different.

I'm looking for a GS board for East Coast/ New England GS racecourses. My weight, 225lbs height 6'3", my current quiver, a prior swallow tail 183, still stiff after 20 years, a Kessler 185 - I'm just not crazy about how slow it transitions between gates, a 20 year old 178 ultra prime, this has worked the best on these courses. A Volkyl ren tiger 173 and a prior wcr 169 both used on SL's I've tried Vist plates and they just add too much weight. I'm currently using F2 step ins. Oh if it matters my boot size is 30.5 so a wider board would work. Can anybody help me out on this One? Thanks, race camp starts in the first week of December.

We have a couple demos in the rack at winterstick, come try one we are at sugarloaf….. @Jack M has a few to his specs if you don’t want to mess around with an allflex his shape might be the way to go, the caveat is you’d have to have us build one unless you can get jack to sell….

“Winterstick has your back with 25% off proform deals. Pipe, Slope, Boarder Cross, All Mountain Freestyle, Powder — our boards are built to take you where you want to go.

*Ready to ride and get your discount? Just email us a copy of a valid USASA membership and we will get you dialed in.”

Personally, for serious carving, I won’t be getting anything less than microbrew builds like the “kitchen sink” construction from Winterstick going forward.  I think constructions like these don’t make sense for mass market boards. That said, the Ride Commissioner is pretty exotic, but it’s not a carving focused shape.

The commissioner is too narrow! The first couple years when it was the reintroduced timeless was as close to a BXFR as you’re gonna get… replaced mine with a BXFR and I’m happier for it..

wescott pro in kitchen sink trim? That might be something…..

Stay tuned on that one, and, I did just sell my tanker 177…. Maybe it will be the “roundtail plus”

  4. well, the mullet is much more demanding and turns a radius similar to both. The TB is in a lot of ways a more conservative tanker but with the flex profile of a burton FP. Very firm through the tail. The truth is, if you like one you’d probably like the other.

Mostly, but I carve hardpack pretty much the same. The Seth Pro looks most interesting. I'm generally pleased that they saved the brand and are making a niche for it.

I'm sceptical of STs in the sort of powder I ride, but if Seth has a spare small one hanging around this season I'll happily see if I can get some shots of it ripping. If it does 😉

The engineer was running banked slaloms on the 183 and was the only thin I saw him on all year….. in the east. It’s not pleasant switch but otherwise is a unique board, I was skeptic as well but the thing is a masterpiece in how well it handles different conditions with that absurd amount of taper but holds an edge well and absolutely rips tight carves. If you’re at whistler this winter I’m sure Seth would get on something. If you’re in maine for any reason we have a demo fleet!

the biggest thing is all that taper and the nature of the tails might not be the most user friendly thing in steep crusty chutes. That’s a given for any board with that amount of taper though. In those conditions I’d go for a TB or wescott…

Since my rotator cuff surgery may keep me off hardboots this year, may as well replace the 7 year old freerider with this TB172!

    I’m surprised you didn’t grab a tanker!

    Hi all,

Looking for some bindings that are similar to F2 Titaniums. Standard bails, no intec. Not looking for trench diggers as I already have a pair and I'm looking for something stiffer/more responsive for racing and aggressive carving.

Looking for medium to large (27.5 Deeluxe boots).

Ideally, looking for 2 pairs. Let me know what you got!

    -Geoff

Td2s or 3s are definitely going to be more rigid but if you want to race that’s not necessarily a good thing….. if I were you I’d go with SGs. Pretty much my favorite binding at the moment.

Size 10 means nothing. You need to measure your feet in mm.

Generally that’s going the land around 28 mondo assuming the size 10 is from a  device … I have some head stratos with a new set of thermo liners in them…..

Yes, think it's just the heel bails. But they're inordinately expensive, even when quoted by Ivan.

So when I did the math, and assuming I can get a decent price this season for the used std bail bindings, the price difference between buying just the bails or buying new (MS bail) and selling (used, std) old wasn't that great. And I wouldn't end up with three sets of std heel bails on the shelf (not much resale opportunity for those).

Jesus, how much are they? And, with mine a set was included….

    TTT bump.

Have 3 sets of these for sale now, switching over to MS and the alternate bail size. Was more effective to buy new sets of MS-compatible SGs and put these up for sale, rather than just buy new toe (heel?) bails and have the old sets sit on the shelf.

Don’t you just need the heel bails? And, I love those bindings… finally got me off TD3s!

I sidestepped that issue by being disappointed in the only variable-sidecut board that I've tried so far. 🙂 It's a production Kessler GS board that I bought used a couple seasons ago, and just felt weird to ride a board that behaves like a long radius at low edge angles and shorter radius at high edge angles. I liked that idea in theory, but on the snow it just didn't feel right.

So I'm still using an old-school constant 13m sidecut for my custom boards, at least for now.

But I also want to try a more variable sidecuts, just out of curiosity, so that got me looking at (used) production boards, which got me wanting a calculator again. I'm trying to keep the approximate radius close to 13m, on the theory that whatever I get will behave approximately like a 13m board.

Duuuude, I can’t do radial anymore. In hardboots I’m not super comfortable with the contra/thirst thing either but on softboot wide boards I think it will eventually become the way everyone does it because it does grip well underfoot at low angle very well.
those side cuts combined with the decamber makes the things so much more friendly but they absolutely do take some time to learn to trust…..

the big kesslers are amazing but somewhat disconcerting. The 162s and 168s are ****ing insane… some day I’ll ride hardboots again!!!

Don’t be scared to size up with swallow tails! They’re all nose and even 183 feels like a 150 or something on hard snow.
where are you? There are demo boards kicking around….

Probably.  Or it could be a pebkac issue. 😉

Well, I’ve worked this before so if it’s the human aspect I’m going to have my kid program my VCR as well

  13. Phil, the roundtail and swallowtail are good candidates for you… you’re a pow guy IIRC?

Still not letting me attach…. Given I’m on a beta OS maybe that’s the issue?

Anyone use Zipfits with MS boots? Curious which ones fit with their height. The Sidewinder? I was thinking of trying Zips, but my local bootfitters don’t have much experience with them and they too expensive to be a guinea pig. 😆

Zips work in most boots. I can help if you need but the basics are….. if you get a liner with less cork it’s a lot easier to add some than remove it……. If you run a super tight (plug) fit or have an extreme volume foot they have a model specifically for that application.
