  1. planning on both days this weekend, looking at the forecast, im just heading to the race lot tomorrow morning to stay out of the wind.
Chief instigator of the Loon Goons, Mr. John Deere will be joining us this weekend, as well as Monodude  on Sunday.

  2. Hi Kahn,

Sorry to bail so early yesterday, that biff I took was a little worse than I thought at first, so I did the adult thing and made myself stop.  MR. John Deere is in town next week, you might want to try and hook up with him, or one of the other crew.  Ill text him and let him know that you have an extra

just a overweight 60 year old hack weekend warrior needing knee replacements so take my advice with a tablespoon of coarse salt. Through the years ive done heavy squats and deadlifts blah blah blah..., this is a brutally efficient bodyweight circut that will probably make you curl up on the floor crying in the fetal position. Ive adjusted the exercises to my stance, and do the jump squats in stance, and side to side mimicking transitions from heal to toe to heal to toe and on and on. Not a trainer by any means, but worth a shot. Read the article, it is an eye opener

  4. I was stopping a lot, with nearly continuous 6 checks. I was not after nonstops yesterday, i was on a different mission. No short board tomorrow, the larger volume of turns = greater time on the run = increased chance of getting whacked. I couldn't believe how many i laid down on spillway last week, but I'm not willing to risk that on a holiday weekend.  probably just cursed myself.

  5. Left at 7:20 ish, it was nice to drive up in daylight.  Pulled in to a half full Race lot because:

    Colorado Highschool State finals race🤮

Lots of fencing up, so no ziggin and zaggin, just jumped right in, though I stopped quite a bit to actually warm up.  First 3 where fine, worked on hand management and cleaning up my healy, tracks got cleaner and cleaner each successive run. I pulled up at the top of the roller by mid station, looked behind me, and promptly shat my trousers. A line of tucked teenaged racers were closing fast, oblivious to the public on the slopes, got buzzed again on lower zigzag. Pulled into the liftline, and a coach asked to ride with me.  Asked him what was going on, he told me " State Championships", I shared my experience on the previous run.  He was not happy, "they are not supposed to be doing that" and promptly got on the radio with the rest of the coaches and patrol. Got off the lift and started waiting as each full chair vomited off another complement of racers. A crusty old patroller came out of the lift shack, ambled over, and promptly positioned himself at the top of the run and dressed down every racer grommet going by to watch their speed, this is not a closed course, you are riding with the public, and to save it for the course. It was beautiful.  waited about 15, and after the last group of wannabes were disgorged,  I started the rest of morning.  Lots of comments from the older folk( apparently i am now part of that demographic) about the group that rides on sunday, about how awesome they are. I, rather bashfully, informed them that I was one of them.  It was glorious, right up until my legs informed me, that, yeah, you're done.

    see you sunday,

  6. Hi Everybody!

So, like the rest of the country, really hasn't felt much like winter, so I haven't been posting much, since it would've mostly been rants about kooks, lack of terrain, and gee, we could really use more snow. Lance, thanks for stepping up in the interim.  Finally feeling like winter, with most of the crowds dispersed on the rest of the mountain, searching for gnar off of of 4, 8, and 9, and the kantexahomans over at the valley shredding the terrain off of 7 and the magic carpet.

Most excellent crew out today, with the usual stalwarts Ice, Ink, Dt, Sandy, returning nutcase vet oddjob, and myself, were joined by  western sloper Carvin Marvin.  We laid waste to the usual runs off of ptarmidgen, 6, and chets.  Our aging, beatup bodies called it after a few hours, we even skipped our usual post ride recovery libations in order to get down the hill before the superbowl shit show started ramping up. Still one of the better days of the season with fairly firm even groom, though there are a few soft spots, Inky watched my boots disappear on a particularly nasty toeside.  A few runs are still a bit uneven, but with more grooming that should even out and disappear.

New thirst XCM is pure money, btw. Me likey, alot!

  7. Cdot board at morrison road:

WB I 70 closed at MM218 due to Blizzard conditions. Expect long delays.

Not what you want to see at 5am. Turned around and went back to bed

No mention of accidents due to lack of snow tires. Passenger vehicle traction law wasn't even in effect

  8. Hi Everybody!

Its been a minute, or two, but like the rest of the country, not much to write home about( other than the camaraderie of the crew, which as always, has been amazingly awesome!!!)  Been riding since opening weekend, but the lack of terrain has been a hinderance to opening things up, keeping me going in these early days of the season have been the presence of teammates Ice, Sandy, Slopestar,  and Katie, with the added presence of the Odd once he came off the IR ( a little tough getting old, isnt it Jman?)We are really lucky to have what we have at the Luv, Thanks Mr Cogan for not ditching me almost 20 years ago, though your anti social self won't admit it, you have created something bigger than all of us, even me in my some what bloated current state

Sunday was by far the best day of the season, it might be a hard one to top.  6 fruitbooters, and 6 softy riders all trenching the living Shite out of Loveys meager offerings in the cold, muted light of day. Stalwarts, Sandy, Ice, Lance, Katie, Odd Job, FNG J49, Coach Ink, in his triumphant return, were joined by the Garden State contingent of Kneel, his sons Fireman Sean, and Quinn. Rounding out the festivities were Hilary, and Julia. It was a rocking good day, Lula!

Forecast is lining up for 2'-3' in the coming week, might be bringing out the 2 meter slalom board for next Sunday

    Til' then,

  9. My abuses of youth have caught up with me, riding with 2 bad knees and shoulders, overly cautious cause of 2 wicked crashes as well as getting tagged from behind by an Ohioan  last year, and having some issues with being 60 have slowed me down a touch. Oh, and the lack of snow and crowds...

    And my ginormus bhudda belly

I got cleared. Unless stuff happens, I'll see you ****ers on Sunday.

    2 things:

Dust off the filter and engage it

    Keep your expectations low

One of the worst starts to the season I have seen in like forever

  11. So wanted to go Sunday but was woken up by a text from my client showing the xcel drops arcing and burning at about 10:30pm Saturday night. Needless to say, didn't sleep so well. Had to be on site Sunday morning to point at things and confirm that it was an xcel issue and had nothing to do with us... (it was xcel, they had fixed it overnight)

Good times, sometimes my job is so much fun and exciting!

I'm in. Went and picked up my pass this morning. Retired the silver sled, driving a black explorer timberline this year
