  1. Impending Doom.

Physically,I really did luck out when Zachery from eastern ohio hit me 2 weeks ago.  Mentally, not so much.  I made some good turns, put together a few, but never got comfortable and confident enough to really open things up. For me, it was kind of a "meh" day. We hit mambo for a few, Roulette, and Richards. Snow was good on all, we avoided spillway, which is still a little narrow and lumpy

Those having a much better day than I, in no particular order, were 007, Ice, Odd Job, SVR, Slopestar, and Ms Katie.  Impressive riding by all. Hoping that this next storm drops a little further south, and supplements the snowmaking, giving us a few more options.

    See you Sunday,

I just finished reading (listening to) Deep Work by Cal Newport. The first half of the book is a warning to those who will be replaced by AI. This is happening really fast.

My son is graduating high school this coming spring/summer. If he does not excel at programming, he better learn plumbing.

Good plan b. AI cannot turn a wrench under a sink. I wish more of our youngsters would consider the trades. I started in construction as a way to finance my education, I found that I was much better suited to building in the real world than in the abstract of civil engineering.  I still use all of the trig I learned, and pass it on to anyone who will stay around as I proselytize about the awesomeness of carpentry.  I am saddened by the fact that there are very few youth coming in, and that the encyclopedic amount of knowledge I have gleaned from the crusty old timers that both mentored, and tormented me will leave with me when I hang up my occidental tool belt in a few years.

Sorry for the partial derailment here, gawdzira touched on something that has been bothering me for  the last decade or so

  3. It was a good one on Sunday, though  i was feeling a bit tentative after my encounter with Zachery from eastern Ohio. I think my neck was more tired from 6 checks than my legs were. Thanks for picking up my slack Lance!

Anyone get up on the new #6 yet? How's the new lift? How's the snow on Roulette?

exit ramp is higher, at least for now.  Not worth it on Sunday, it was pretty beat up by the time we got over there.  I'll wait until there are a few more runs open since everyone is coming down roulette at the moment.

When I hear tales of collisions (or near collisions) it really makes me shudder. Glad you weren't hurt.

    Thanks John.

Once the adrenaline wore off later on I started to feel the ouchits on my right side, I couldn't remember if I went down or not, but my ribs, arm, shoulder and a$$ cheek on told another story.  Feeling better today, I plan on being back out next Sunday.  The whole thing was more annoying than anything else. As expected, the numbnuts that hit me got the worst of it. He corroborated my version of me being the downhill rider, in Patrols eyes it was all on him

The only flaw in your logic is he was at lovey. Besides, he wasn’t wearing bogner

  7. Thanksgiving Day

The team was running full throttle today, we were in full turn and burn mode, with 9 runs in before 10.  There were a few straggler teams around, and things still didn't get too weird until about 9:45 As JD would say, we knifed the place. I called it at about 10 to get back for some familial turkey day obligations.  Yesterday's crew consisted of MR. JOHN DEERE, Ice, SVR, Slopestar, and Miss Katie.

    Black Friday

I dodged one today. After a about 8 or 9 solid runs, the holiday gong show was starting to ramp up.  Windows were getting smaller, crowds were growing, it was getting uncomfortable. On what turned out to be the last run of the day for me, I did multiple 6 checks on the cat walk, and decided that staying high and to riders left on mambo was the safest course of action. After 4 quick turns on the little SF, on the apex of my heelside, I heard that dreaded scraping sound behind me, and to the left, and felt some banging on my board. I looked down and saw ski tips and boots right next to my back foot, I somehow managed to stay up, and pull away. Apparently, some dumbass from eastern Ohio thought it was a good idea to shoot that 5' gap between myself and the ropeline. He went down hard, I think he crossed tips after hitting my board, endoed, double ejected and splatted pretty good. I stuck around for a bit, once he regained his faculties, he bitched at me for carving across the hill. I gently reminded him the ability to stop, and possibly turn, especially when approaching downhill riders, are essential skills when being on the hill. I stayed around for a little bit, waiting to see if he was good to go. he seemed to be, I got impatient, and headed down the hill to catch up with Tank and JD. I looked up again and saw him toss his $hit into the woods. I waited again at the lift to further discuss our interaction, again to no avail. I gave up, and skated over to the parking lot, where I was met by a patroller and lift supervisor. I told them I didn't run, he seemed okay, and since he basically ended my day, i was heading down the hill and home.  As I was filling out a report on the hood of the flex, another patroller came up, compared notes, and said" yep, he said you were the downhill rider" and that was that. I am a little rattled, but otherwise okay, im not even sure I went down, and there is no damage to the SF. Not sure if I am in for sunday yet, I might let the holiday shitshow die down and sleep in

Porkroll Express headded to Buena Vista for the first two, maybe three, weeks of December to get the kid moved into his new place.  Can't be all setting up wifi innernetz, assembling furniture, installing washer/dryers and hanging tvs and stuff on walls.  Need to schedule some time for fun.  Doesn't a Monarch pass also get you a couple days at Lovey... 🤔

That is Awesome!  down to the last 1/4lb, did a better job of stretching it this time, I even shared a little with a south philly electrician that was on one my jobs last spring.  Monarch is partnered with Lovey, so you will get 3 days free if you get the monarch pass

I wish I was there. I would have at least called him a low bar mother ****er and started going off on his social economic status, athletic ability, and race, in a wonderful tourettes fashion.

Chances are, low bar ****s like him will be priced out.

Waste of oxygen, he was an idiot, not worthy of the effort

  12. It seemed like the racers and the stoners were on the same page today, after an hour of swinging their legs back and forth in a circle the stoners hit the lifts at the same time that the racers finished their last parking lot bowl, leading to a really weird change in the vibe. (I may have gotten that backwards, but it is a nice visual regardless). The crew did have about 6 clean, solid runs before the call was made to hit the Rat.

When we were riding, and not thinking about beer, a very uncommon thing happened, Mr. Positively Awesome skittered out of a heely, and slowly slid to a stop on his hip. Meanwhile, a rather large dumbass, frustrated by the growing crowds, forced a hard toeside and promptly blew up, officially making it biff #2 for the season. In liftline news, Special Guest MR. JOHN DEERE kept his cool while listening to the jackass that had just sprayed him (and promptly tomahawked) brag to his buddies about "see me spray that guy" and then basically tell him he was wearing ski boots , and he was not on a snowboard.  (+500 carve points for not giving into your baser instincts and cross checking the jackass, though I would have given you a 1000 if you had)

Snow was phenuckinnominal today, and the 8rw just ripped. Nice, solid, grippy and firm, with a minor refresh on tap for Wednesday night, Thursday is shaping up as another awesome carving day. A few more runs are open, with #7 spinnin over at the valley, and #2 at the basin.  It may be a short wait before we see 6 spinning, anything to spread the masses out, and give us more room to roam.

On the hill today, the aforementioned Ice, MR JOHN DEERE, Lance, Katie, Surfer Dave, and the recently back from DC, SVR. It was some good stuff, hope to see some more of you out soon.

  13. Carve Church 11/13, day 2

10f in the parking lot around 8 am, with multiple days of grooming made for a nice firm start to the day. Patroller in the lift chicane spying and Kevin's and my foot ware and called out '' good day for plate's" he was not off target.  For this early in the season, it was pretty phenomenal.

Once again, the 8RW was the scalpel of choice.  I had a little bit of fun with Ice, I saw a shadow behind me, looked back, saw he was tailgunning me, and thought "oh, would you like to play?" and proceeded to tighten up my turns and make him work a bit.  I paid the price on the next run when I had to put it sideways through a gaggle of geeks that I came upon in the same spot, hitting my previous runs trenches fully sideways.  Ouch.  Not fun.  No wonder people dont like to follow me.

Softie riders outnumbered the fruitbooters today, with Juwanamo, Lance, Katie, and Lance's surfing buddy Dave tearing it up in mush boots, and Kevin and I in hards. Called it after 6 runs, crowds were ramping up, gaps were getting smaller, and I wanted to end on a positive note.  One more week of the race teams, then into that peaceful period between Thanksgiving and Christmas.  I have to say, there have been less racers than normal this year, it has been rather pleasant.  John Deere and Tank will be joining us next week, looking forward to it!

  14. Finally, flannel weather

Chilly, snowy, and fairly empty early on.  3'' of fluff on top of a soft groom. Day 1, so I did what any rational person would do, and broke out the new thirst 8RW wit the flannelscnhitzel topsheet.  It was the perfect choice.  From one footing it off of the lift into a gentle, lightly carved heelie, to a bunch of quick heel/toe turns, into a solid heelie on the very first turn, I quickly became one with the new stick.   That was the best first run of the season I have ever had. It was definitely the equipment, and not the rider. It'll be a bit, but all of you other goofy Basterds need to ride this board, it's got magics!!

Light crew on the first 2, Lance, Katie, and myself, we finally started picking up the stragglers before our third. with FNG, Juwanamo,007, Ice, and MR.E joining us. It turned into a nice little posse before it started getting cut up and busier right about the time the Rat opened. Such convenient, and perfect timing

Good to see everyone for our Sunday session kickoff, next Sunday is right around the corner!

@big mario Did you see the Dickies any of the times they played the Court Tavern in New Brunswick? I was there both times. Actually, you probably caught them at the Parrot which they played as well..or City Gardens.  Didn't see them at the GP, but did at City Cardens.  Mayhem...

Oh, derailed, what I'm listening to now...

    Nice, Soothing, bedtime music...

Stupid and offensive. Like all my favorite music.

you and I are probably the only 2 nitwits on this forum that actually owned this or even know about thie dickies. haven't seen this cassette in a decade or 2.  I always loved the visuals this produced in my juvenile, as well as my current "adult" brain

On second thought, Kneel might have possessed this at one time as well, he fits right in with you and I
