  1. Steamboat modified their gondola cars to carry boards outside, I remember trying to get my 175 Dagger inside and how clumsy and inconvenient that was.
  2. I still have the box from my AM172/23 from Bruce, the UPS label shows 11# actual weight (board, padding and box).
  3. Don't bother with screws, just use doubleback carpet tape, and make sure to use nothing less than 36 grit. There has been quite a few times where I wish I would've thought of the kick-back manuever.
  4. Money means nothing to the very rich, they go through it like we use water. This is a little off topic, but a few years ago I saw a Saudi prince come into town (he was headed to the Mayo clinic in Rochester) in his private 747SP, a day later the family showed up in the A300 and when he was done with his checkup they went shopping, cleaned out a sporting goods store, bought 17 new ford pick-ups with boat and trailer combos, chartered an AN124 (bigger than the C-5 Galaxy) to haul all the loot and flew off to Africa to go on safari. When an entourage like that shows up what big business operation is going to say no?
  5. If you bought the Alp with the bindings installed, try contacting the seller to see if he has the 4x4 discs and the cant insert, the race plates always came with both sets of discs, but didn't come with cants til later on. You could also demo the boards without the cant, try riding the Alp without it in place. And, as pointed out, anybody that sells burton will have the discs available-they are not specific to the race plates. At your weight, I would not worry about the sturdiness of the Burton plates, either.
  6. The last time I stopped at White Wolf all they had left was some of the vari-cants. I had picked up some of the old style round ones a few years ago. If anyone is looking for Burton boots in smaller sizes they still have quite a selection.
  7. The Axis is a 21.5 waist same as the Alp, so you can run the same angles. The Coiler AM can be had in 3 different widths. I was fortunate when I bought mine 2 years ago, it only took 2 months to get it but was definitely worth the wait. I've got the 172/23 waist and an Alp 171, there is no comparison between the two, the Coiler is quicker responding and waaay more stable at speed - never gets nervous or gives the impression of being ready to fold like the Alp. I went with the wide because I wear a 29.5 boot and I like a more relaxed angle.
  8. I can help you out with 2 7 degree cants, contact me off list. Paul
  9. Go to tirerack.com, you can punch in your car or tire size and get the recommendations plus they have an incredible online tire review section. You can sort through looking for reviews with similar situations to yours and make an informed decision, then buy from them (or not).
  10. During the mid 90's Burton made a 6" round cant in 3 & 6 degrees in either 3d or 4x4 as well as a larger (around 9") one for strap bindings. I used to buy them up when visiting new shops, but they're impossible to find now. Sold quite a few on the old forum, I've got one 6" 3deg 4x4 left and a few of the 7deg ergo cants. The new ergo cants came with changeable inserts, the older ones were fixed.
  11. Oldkey, are you looking for a 4 hole or the 3d pattern? I might be able to help you out.
  12. With the back foot at 30deg or higher you will always get your heel trying to lift unless you can cant or lift the binding. The old Burton 9"canting discs were good for this but are rare as hens teeth. The Catek is very adjustable. http://www.catek.com/freeride.htm
  13. KnightRider, I've got a Coiler AM 172 with a 23 waist (not for sale!) that I absolutely have a blast with. You could ride this with lower angles, I wear a 29.5 boot(size 12) and run at 50-54* on the front foot. Bruce will build the board to your size and riding style. I believe that the Prior 4WD can also be ordered with a wider waist.
  14. Dill, after seeing this post and all the folks looking for burton cants I decided to register here (used to post occasionally on the old forum). I've got 2 of the 7deg ergo cants, one never used and still in the bag. You can have first crack before I post in the classifieds.
