The answer to that is to get suitably skilled and knowledgeable people here to revise/rewrite the Tech Articles with a 2024 view.
If ASB is to be the place to come about hardbooting, it has to LEAD.
what?
the answer is to take issue with someone who has posted only 2 times and for no reason other than to steal, right?
am I missing something?

last year, on a cat trip in BC, I noticed in real time that my woods partner riding skis popped out of a ski on a steep steep. all at once, I turned the big 187 Tanker that I was riding sideways so I could help him look for his lost ski. never in my imagination could I have envisioned that the volume of snow that I was plowing downhill would be able to simply vanish into a tree well. just astonishing- and when it was full, the balance roiled downhill like water, which it is of course.
that was an education for me and it reminded me of when I dug up what I thought was a small septic field distribution box and discovered something about the size of a racquetball court.

There is a video from 2017 that is all about Brushie and his kids pow surfing. Danny Strasser YouTube Channel

perhaps a gopro, on the nose of the board, mounted as far out on the board as there is a flat surface to mount to. GoPro mount supplementally secured with a bead of of clear tub and tile type silicone caulking. imo, the adhesive on the factory mounts is inadequate and needs help

Donek Knapton specced for icy conditions (170, 30.6, 10m, 12/10). Felt terrifying at first after my mellow Elevated Surfcraft Salmon, but I'm slowly conquering the board (kudos to @Xargo for helping me out with my technique). Inserts are offset 20 mm which is a game-changer and allows me to properly center the Step On bindings.
Re: The offset with the inserts.
how is this different than if offset is achieved by simply using asymmetric baseplate discs?

. born male and remain so
. 195.58 cm
. 86.36 cm
. 48.26 cm
. 72 front 54 rear
. flat (no cant)
. Head Stratos Pro (mondo 31.5) w/ Intec step-in.
*. I tinker with my stance constantly. the numbers listed are what I would settle on if I had to commit to a specific setup for the rest of my riding days.

I have a 94' slopestyle that was Craig's personal board. 171 with barbed wire base, a gloss finish with no topsheet serial numbers/only on the base, upside down and backwards visible through the base at the tail of the board. Have had it for many years and have proof from a couple OG's when we all worked Kelly's Camp back in the 90's. Was given to my best friend who rode it quite a bit before hanging it up and giving it to me. Bathed in storage wax, fully tuned and cleaned up around the top sheet edges... just waiting for that day, where it goes back out for one more lap. If I ever go to Revelstoke, I will gift it to the lodge.
sweet. i think your desire to give it another ride and then gift it is absolutely fantastic.
over the last few years, i have been buying older pow boards specifically to use on an annual BC cat trip. 2 hours drive south of Revelstoke, Selkirk/Purcell. last year i was on an Osin 4807 (168cm). one of the young guides, who boards, was smitten with the shape and i gave it to him at the end of the trip. this years board is a Dynastar with the exact same shape, but @ 178 cm (thanks digger jr.)
giving boards to people who appreciate them is a joy, for sure.

Personally, I could see myself geeking out and spending irrational money on a on a Johan Olafson , Jonavon Moore or Fredi Kalbermatten board. I would want to ride it, though.
The board would give me the side eye, for sure. Given it’s history, n’all- 1

If you have one in good shape and you don’t wear it, let me know.
mine is worn out.
thanks -
Bump.
I still have it. Same status as before. If interested, pm me and I will send you pictures. I will take care of shipping to lower 48 - so I guess it’s a price drop.

Four hours so I could always make it part of a combined trip to the desert down there.
I envisioned two vehicles in a desert, intense heat, cacti here and there and snowboards being transferred from one car to another.

I keep having the thought that; if a sizable percentage of what one eats is classified as UPF, and UPF is generally lacking nutrients, one remains “hungry”.
A kid that is deficient in some mineral or another might eat clay from the yard while playing or crave a raw carrot that still has soil on it - sort of analogous to that, I think.

might try getting in touch with Loopback
he was looking to trade a Tanker200 recently, if I recall. might be something there.

personally, early season is about conditioning and remembering bad habits. late season is just about being outside snowboarding. i don't ride a performance minded board at either stage of the season, with some exception. my alpine quiver is all kind of performance minded... so it's softies early/late. non custom boards, easily replaceable.
4 hours ago, BlueB said:I'm not particularly worried about putting some battle scars on my boards - I mostly buy them used. If I know it's really rocky, probably one of my freeride bords. Spring slush calls for those anyhow, or for my old Tankers...
I second these notions, both.
”softies early/late”…….”old tankers”,
respectively.

Not mass produced, but massive; Donek Hazelwood 200. My new all-time favorite soft boot carver.
I have had it for years but really just put it in service recently. When I ordered it, I drew a pencil line around a traditional camber Tanker 200 (Māori theme) and requested the same shape/ geometry Hazelwwod. On groom, it rides nothing like a Tanker, (but in a good way).

I saw Mike riding one of these at Sunapee. It rips.
My thought when watching him ride; great for skiers who want to hardboot, but without the need to acquire boards. -
are you using a plate ?
which boots ?
any video ?
I am not a racer but I would guess those who can help you will ask the three questions above, to start.
-
hi brokecollegekid.
I would help straight away, if not for the fact that my boots are 31.5 and my boards are most all fairly long.
you’ll do well here.

Well….if it was too special for you, I know a carver in Idaho who love to create some room in your quiver for something else. I still love this board more than is reasonable.
Hi Carvedog.
the Burner will most likely stay with me but if i do ever decide to sell it, you are first in line. I wouldn’t forget you- I remember that you picked up my Supermodel that was standing around unused. best to you.

But…
This is what happens when you ask a group of lay people for medical advice.
That said, if I lived in the States and didn’t want to trigger a five figure bill for simply presenting myself to emerg, I’d ask internets for medical advice too.Very perceptive comment. Just yesterday, I presented myself at the ER in Kootenay Hospital, BC (I am American).
Super straightforward experience- I explained that i clearly cracked or broke some ribs and needed imaging and a doctor exam. Up front, I paid a three-line itemized bill (admission, doc fee, diagnostic imaging) $1315 CAD. I will have to try to submit for reimbursement from BCBS when I get home.
4 hours later, I walked out with a clear idea of what’s going on (3 hairline fractures and lung looks okay) and a scrip. good experience.
i am not lobbying for nationalized medical care but there is something to be said for a transaction that is transparent and makes sense.

It was amazing for 5 runs when chairs first loaded 0800 and then some other folks showed up. it needs ALL the space, of course.
Stay on the nose and it is more cooperative and predictable than I intuit when I am just standing over it.
The way the tail finishes the turn is a special sensation, for sure. some lightening at the end is just what I need these days, anyway. It is in amazing condition for its age and Rennstall @ Deer Valley tuned it beautifully and really brought it to life.
a couple of years ago, I was lapping Silverlode or Motherlode at PC on this Burner and saw Billy Bordy with his family. I would have loved it if he could have jumped on it and shown me what it is really capable of. He had several over the years - broke the tail on each, if I recall.

Binding Angles for 18 cm wide board - Help/Suggestions

I don’t ride any 18cm waisted boards presently but when I have it has been at 72 & 54, without any problems. 31.5 Head Stratos Pro on Cateks that were “up”
