  1. for watching the Steeler Game.

What a nail biter, some BS calls but goodluck to you Bronco fans next week

I gotta feeling.....Pittsburgh's goin' to the Superbowl!!!

If you know the chant join me :biggthump

  2. Nice turns D-sub, it makes me wanna take that trip west I have been dying to do for the past 4 years. Marriage and two kids have put a crimp on my west coast trips. I cant get over the amount of room you have to make the type of turns you want to make. Its also good to know one can make the short quick turns on a higher SCR board. I will now be in the market for a longer higher SCR board.

The place I ride is either steep or flat, with minimal in between. If I ever make it out your way, would love to get some turns in with you.

  3. You guys are talking on a level I have begun to partially understand. Not having a computer related background it is coming to me little by little.

I have another post on what new technology is going to increase my gaming performance. As the new PC games become more and more information loaded, i.e. Battlefield Vietnam to Battlefield 2 (which rocks when it flows smoothly), my system will need an upgrade soon. I have checked out the dual core, but the price tag is a bit steep Intel ($960 or so) and the new AMD ($1061), eventually I will need to change out.

If any of you are gamers and have an opinion about either of these, please post.

    Thanks

    Greg

  4. Just checking to see if we have any online gamers. I'm into FPS's and BF2 right now.

Built my own rig about 2 years ago and possibly looking to update it with maybe a new Vid card(s) if I go dual, water cooling and some memory. Just seeing what the hottest new vid cards out there and any knowledge on going with a new dual card system. REad and article on dual Intel vs. AMD and it looks like AMD may get the nod on performance for gaming.

Any input would be great and please keep this thread in laymen's terms.

  5. I am trying to work something out with Pat on the Doneks and if for whatever reason it falls through I will let you know. I will shipping to CAN, I have only shipped one there and it took some extra time, few days, and it was sent with minimal insurance. I guess it got thru with little,to no fees because I described it a used snowboard equipment and insured very little.

Just wanted to give that heads up in the event, PAt and I fall thru.

  6. Need some input folks.

Picked up a Donek Axis 182 last year when my Volant started to delam. Rode it about 5 days (3 of which at ECES at Okemo last season) and enjoyed riding it, especially on the one powder day we had there, which it floated beautifully, but havent been back on it yet.

Picked up a RT 173 GS (Sabertooth) and MADD 170 Camo this season, which both have opened my eyes on how well a board can function, especially the MADD. I thoroughly enjoy how those boards function and what they can do.

Now the Donek is sitting in the garage and I debate on whether to sell it or not. I realize its a personal choice, but looking for input on what any of you would do. do you have boards in quiver that dont get much play time, but you keep for certain conditions or times of the year?

I ride in PA, so the slopes tend to get skiied of by 10 or 11am with ice and scrape piles and crowds, at which time I usually bag it. aNd come back the next morning for fresh groomers.

Just seeing if you think I should "Hold or Fold". I would like to keep for the occasional powder day here in PA, but picked up an Osin 4807 that is also waiting its turn. Trips out west are limited since getting married and kids.

You folks that wheel and deal a cornicopia of boards, let me know your opinion and reasons why if you have some time.

    Thanks

    Greg

  7. Skate,

took the MADD 170 for a few runs this morning for the first time, all I can say, is get one. It took a little bit getting used to during the first run, but I couldn't get over how well it held on frozen granular. I only use it at medium speeds because our slopes at blue Mountain: Pennsylvania and have become victims of the groomers ridges because of the recent rain. Once we get properly groomed slopes back, I'll let you know how it runs wide open.

    Seriously consider getting one.

  8. Place this thread in general forums first.

I have ridden the Aggression version of that board (basically the same thing) for the past 2 years until I picked up other boards. Be sure to start off at lower angles on the bindings to start and slowly work you way into steeper angles.

The board does have a characteristic to lock into turns once you start carving deeper and mine pitched me into the woods a couples times, but I was on fairly narrow trails in PA. I weigh 205 and it handled everything I could throw at it towards teh end of the season.

It was my first alpine board after 20 years freestyle and it did well for me.

  9. Though longer than what you are looking for , I think this board would work. and he could grow into it.

Never used, couple scratches from sitting in the shop I bought it from.

Let me know and I can send pics.

  10. Is was just getting more than what I was use to and I had to put a stop to it. I must being doing ok and the hooks may not be that deep. Only ting disrupted so far is sleep. I have quit a few other times with decent success and came back in intermittent anihilation every couple of months or so.

Oddly enough, I was throwing out a ton of hints to many of my family and friends that I was hitting it heavy and none of them intervened, until my wife stopped me on New Years Night in the middle of a game of A$$hole or 3-man or maybe Higher Lower, cant remember and placed two full 20 oz. glasses of water in front of me and said I couldnt have another drink until I finished each glass of water. chugged the first and gulped through the second in about 4 minutes and by the time I finished, by belly would hold no more liquid.

Woke up the following afternoon and said, "that's it" I'm really done this time"

    Thanks

    Greg

PS Jesse picked up one of those used MADD 170's on ebay but havent ridden it yet, maybe friday if the weather holds up. Let me know if you wanna go a night this week. It was rainy and overcast my 12 days of vacation.

  11. Day 4- Terror- you are right on, I havent been able to get to sleep the past couple nights, thankfully I had a game to watch last night, GO LIONS. Past couple of nights have been challenging in that my Step Father in Law, who has been my drinking buddie for the past 4 years has been over for dinner before the games and he is still consuming, but supports me fully.

I have also noticed I am more lethargic in the mornings and thru the day, but dont want to substitute caffiene to get it going. I haven't had any urges either and in fact (this may be odd), I placed a beer beside the water cooler in my fridge just to remind me to take a water instead of a beer in the evenings. If I do get the urge, I will look at the beer can in disgust to stay in the right frame of mind.

My other buddie, Jack Daniels has been removed from the house. My biggest challenges will be at a Superbowl party I will attend and a regional meeting in April where all of my work buddies love to imbibe.

I will choose to stay away from the green as well, too much of a risk anyway with work and the law.

I'll make my new vice to be a better husband and father, which I try to be better at anyway daily. Second one on the way and I hope its a girl, but dont tell my wife that because when she asks what I want, I tell her it doesnt matter. Just a healthy kid.

I have been to Pat's condo and thanks again for last years accomodations at ECES at Okemo. Great place to hang. Hope to be there again someday.

I use to drink some great beers Todd with the lighter stuff to rehydrate ;)

It's encouraging to hear others stories and I wish all of you continued success.

    Thanks

    Greg

PS BJ is that a Crappie or Perch you are holding?
