  1. I spend most of my time at Whistler Blackcomb or Crystal Mt..

Whistler just had a special 5 day pass for Seniors -- which I bought. $51 a day -- normal General public is $96 a day. that is nice of them to discount us 65 yr and older.

At Crystal they are are very tight with their money and no breaks until you get 70 yr old.

How about your mountain.. what is the age for a senior discount?

  2. Did not restore it but modified the hell out of it.

Bought an empty body and frame of a 1954 CJ 3B Jeep, sandblasted all of it. there was no running gear or springs --nothing. Added late model Dana 30 series front end and a built my own rear end from a 67 Jeep Wagoneer, shortened the one long side so I could make a center drive rear end, bought a new Dana transfer case mated it to a Ford Truck T-98 Tranny. Had the two drivelines built to my drawings at a local driveline shop. Dropped in a LT-1 Chevy small block V-8 with special goodies so it had around 300-350 HP. Used a Ford Tbird power steering box, a tilt steering wheel from a Chevy Elcamino, converted the thru the floor clutch and Brake system to a Swinging Pedal style mounted to the firewall, that was from a stick shift Pontiac. Had the radiator made to my drawing for proper cooling, Speedometer was out of a Jaguar, Seats were from a Ford Fairlane 500, tailights from a Chevy Vega, and heater was taken from a older Chevy passenger car, modified to fit the small mounting area.

Anyway -- lot of work, 3-4 X more than I thought. Sure ran great and was very scary fast. Sold it a couple of years ago.:biggthump

  3. C5, is this love a crow week or something? You're the third person to start a thread on that damn crow :eplus2:

I did not have a video camera but I think that same Damn Crow was putting at my local golf course this summer.. he missed the 2 foot putt, but his buddy - Crow #2 - got our food out of the golf cart while we were watching him putt.

  4. Maybe they are looking at densities and not the image..With the car moving and the top down image, it's basically a three dimensional scan..Rutheford Backscatter Spectometry will tell you the density of something if you know the thickness of whatever you're shooting the alpha particles through..I dont' know if that's true when you're shooting them through the mishmash of materials in a car- I don't know how that works if they are going through a steel door and through explosives and back out a steel door again...I failed my second semester of AP Chem :freak3:

if thats the case then they need to go microwave.. like these guys do.,

  5. I just wonder the heck one can see in there that would be consider illegal.

a gun could be seen but it is not illegal

Wine/liquor can be seen but not illegal

Powder in any form-- dont think you can see it.

    Drugs.. dont think it shows

so just what can you xray in a car that you should not have?

    this is an AFWOTAM

  6. I was coming back from Whistler a couple of days ago and noticed a speed limit sign outside of Squamish . Thought about it over the next mile or so.. the sign says

" Speed limit 70 km except when children are on the highway 50 km" .

Hmm what the hell are children doing on the highway?:smashfrea:smashfrea

But then again I thought of my favorite sign I see in Snohomish near the golf course.

    " Caution -- Fish on roadway "

  7. the sun was going to be out in Seattle so I decided to golf to finish out the year. Called a few friends and none of them could get a way so I went solo to the golf Club Proshop to which I belong.

the Pro puts me with a 3 some I do not know.

There was a frost delay till about 11 or so. I joined up with 3 nice youngsters 25 ish age who the Pro Shop introduces me to. They arrived at Echo Falls Golf Club about 7:30 -8:00 not knowing there was a frost delay. When I met them at 10:30 they had already had 3 beers and going for their fourth. We T off... and they can hit the ball a mile but who knows where it is.. left , right , wherever. When they hit out of bounds , they take a drop ahead like it is a Red hazard. Mine goes straight down the middle with perfect trajectory. At the turn going to Hole 10, they ask me = We shot 45 and 46 and 48 what did you shoot Al? I said I think it was a 38. They said "Wow!". So on hole 16 when mine goes long down the middle again, one of them asks " Al are you having a great day of golf today or do you always shoot like this? I said this is about average. They said "F$ u 6 ck!"

It was a fun day. Happy New Year to Ya All!!!

  8. There is no rush, as long as they are stored correctly. Chris Figgins (owner/winemaker) gave me 2 6-packs when he was in town last. That guy can ski! I took him up highlands bowl on a great pow day last year.

    that was my thought too..

I have two bottles slated for opening so far. When my new granddaughter has her 1st birthday and the next is when I hit 70 yr young, which incidently my birthday is in Jan and I always spend it in Whistler Blackcomb. So a day of riding my Coiler AM that day ending with a Leonetti will be a good way to finish the sixties.

  9. I have 6 bottle of a vertical collection of Leonetti Merlot - 1999 and up. One of these days a special day will show up and one or two of those guys will get opened. I have had the 2004 and 1998 of this wine - some of the best Merlots I have ever had the pleasure of sticking my nose in.

  10. Two iPhone apps (AlpineReplay, MotionX-GPS) say that I've not yet broken 40mph on my mountain bike, but have broken 50mph on both hardboots and softies. Take that!

(This is gonna sound strange, but I've not ridden my mtb down a long paved hill, or even wide dirt hill, since before I got my iPhone. Too much god single track around Bend to spend time riding on the roads...)

Do not ride a mountain bike but on my road bike a Wilier Cento 1 best I have done is 45 mph -- I will not atempt to break that.

BTW - Mike how have you been? - haven't seen you since you did the wonderful gathering at Bachelor years ago,
