I go right by your store quite often. Do you know if your techs have done Alpine boards before???? What is the cost.

He did send the money but he did not read payment instructions -- He expected me to take a regular check from a bank I have not heard of. I sent him an email saying this would be unacceptable form of payment-- he said send it back and he'd return with a Cashiers check as instructedon the sale. We'll see. Stay tuned sounds a little fishy syaing he did not see the payment instruction.

I think you could get outfitted for your first ride a lot cheaper than $900. I just helped my son get started and he spent only few dollars. Here is how we did it. Ebay. Nice Sims Burner Alpine 175 Brand new AF 600 Riachle boots 230 Trench digger stepins used for 125. Total $530. You don't have to go new to get started. Once you are experienced in what you like then buy the new stuff for a personal Christmas Present.

at your size you would love a Volkl 173 RT Renntiger- it is a GS board check the specs on the Bomber store. It is fun and easy to ride and a very forgiving board but will take you as fast as you want to go. good luck

How about a get together on Sat or Sunday the 28th or 29th of Feb.....at Crystal or Stevens?

First it was not a work out for me -- it was a friggen body beating. I can see what you are saying and maybe your corkscrew analogy is some of the problem with my past FC179 but also I can tell you when I got it I put the tail on the floor and nose in my left hand and push in the center as hard as I could and I said to myself " Holy Crap!" just like in Everybody Loves Raymond. I have never felt or seen a stiffer board in my life. We all have our own personal preferences and maybe I tend to lean - no pun intended- towards a more flexible board maybe than others. BTW- I found it humorous that the guy I sold it to rode it one day and sold it for the same reason. I can also say this FC179 was even tough to ride on the access runs to the main runs.. ever little bump felt like a sudden jar to my old legs and knees. My best analogy back to you would be it was like riding a very stiff suspension race car on a logging road with severe washboards and chuck holes. On these same access area runs or main runs my Volkl 173 or 178 or F2 Speedster 177 or Prior 185 WCR all are very smooth and I could ride em 4 days in a row and not hurt my knees, half a day on the Donek was painful enough to bring the day quick to an end and pop the Advil. also I'll separate this one out -- My new Coiler AM 177 with a 11.5 side cut rides wonderful and I can ride it all day. I think that board is the closest in my quiver to the FC 179 for comparison. I think anyone over 300lbs could ride the Donek FC179. thanks for the info Jack and have a good year..:)

I am not sure if it is available.. someone bought it on Ebay thru Buy it Now -----I have tried to contact him to be sure he understood what he bought is not a soft boot snowboard but he will not return an email. so all I can do is contact you later if I never hear from him. Dont know what to say- usually good ebayers reply in a reasonable amount of time- this guy has not.

I have both. I had a FCII - red top sheet 179 if I remember right. I felt the overall board was excellent and well made but I could not ride it all day. I took a little to much effort and it beat my knees up in a 1/2 day. It was just too stiff and I weigh 215 lbs. I personally like a top sheet that is glossy and smooth like you see on production boards. The Donek is not a very pleasing top sheet to me but it is my preference and others could care less - you have to make the call on that one. Re: the F2 Speedster. It is a also an excellent and well made board. Top notch craftsmanship for a production board. I have a 177 RS metalic yellow top sheet. I can ride this guy all day and several days in a row just like I can my Volkl 178. The F2 is smooth riding and you can just relax and enjoy the ride. Top sheet is glassy smooth and would look good as wall art in the summer too! My pick is the F2. Although I would like to try a Donek again if I can find one that would be not so friggen stiff. My old man legs can't handle the stiff ride.:)

Thinning out my quiver.. I have a used but in good condition RT 178. It is the black one with grey stripes on the tail. It has a few minor battle scars but edges are perfect, base needs a tune to make a few scrapes go away. Camber is is still there and looks like about the same that a new one has. Top sheet shows superficial marking and dings here and there but all cosmetic -- nothing anywhere that is structure damage. Rides super smooth as all Volkls do. Fin... did you get more in ?? I tried to order some justt recently and Michelle said no more till next year? Whats up?? I could really use 1 or 2 heel peices for a TD 1 step in.

Good idea .. I have a set of TD1s I can't use till next year because they are out of heel peices. Wayne, let me know if you are successfull in modifying a TD2 or hopefully Fin can tell us what exactly can be done to re-work a TD2.

Yes it is -- I have a flame red coupe that only get out on sunny days and am looking forward to having a C6 parked next it when it is in its second model year.:D

One of my Favorites is the one where the ski guy asks on the chair lift .. Tell me about that squared off tail you have. I started with " Well, I got tired of it falling down when I stood it against the wall so I cut it off square on my band saw" He looked puzzeled then I told him the correct Alpine story. Several times I had to tell skiers it is not a mono ski then they say "I had no idea" but my best one is from a fellow snowboarder but on a free ride with straps. I am an old fart at 57 and he was about 15-17 yr old. He gets on the chair with me and asks if we can race to the bottom and I say sure, lets go. He is excited and so am I since I was riding my Volkl RT 178 at the time with TD step ins and he with the 3 strap. As we got off the lift I stepped in and left, he sat down to strap up, and I went straight to the bottom and was probably half way down while he was still strapping in. Met him at the chair he had a puzzeled look on his face and he did not ask again. Treachery and old age wins again!:D

My take being a car nut that I am Volkl RT - Don Garlits Swamp Rat dragster Prior 4X4- Lexus LX 470 F2 Speedster- Corvette C5-R Arbor Munoz - Lexus LS 400 Burton - any model- 1957 Buick Roadmaster with 2 speed auto or a Ford Tarus.

I just recv'd my TD2 Step-ins and I find the leash clip that I have on my boot for my TD1's is not interchangeable.. Is there a reason why you changed? The bitch of it was I did not find this out till I got on the slopes and had no leash to my board since I had th older clip on my boot and the other half was the new leash supplied to the binding. You should probably warn people of this in the instructions. Sorry if this is a double post.. I tried search and found nothing. AL
