  1. Good day at USASA. Jane had good clean runs on slopestyle.

Started out rather crusty, but softened up this afternoon for

some nice runs off American Flyer.

    Celebrity photo of the day.

Mimi Wiencke takes Gold in Women's Open Division for GS.

(Dave - I'll send you more shots)

  2. post-10752-141842364962_thumb.jpgWe had an excellent season thanks to the hard work of the snow making operations at Spirit.

We're starting to get our gear ready for USASA at Copper at the end of the month.

We'll have one more carver on the hill next year.

Stay healthy and train hard. We'll post updates from Nationals.

  3. post-10752-141842364666_thumb.jpgI took a few runs from between 6 and 7 PM tonight, and Jane joined in after the Board Meeting. Started out okay, but it set up into hard crud pretty quickly after the sun went down. We were a bit surprised

since it has been so warm. It's starting to deteriorate with new water hazards and grass poking through in the middle of Four Pipe.

Otherwise, we're seeing some granular snow now, and a bit of grooming overnight might make for a great day tomorrow for those lucky enough to be off.post-10752-141842364675_thumb.jpg

  4. Had a meeting this evening after work that was canceled, but decided not to try Spirit with the heat. Heard that conditions weren't prime. Very unsettling for March 14th, and forecast to continue.

Jane and I are planning an evening session tomorrow - could be my last at Spirit this year if we don't stay open past this weekend. It's supposed to be a little cooler for one day.

  5. Arrived at Grand Ave at noon. The Express chair was just making a pitiful buzzing noise and had been abandoned. Four Pipe was roped off at the level of the base of Double Jaw

so I hiked the hill. Could've been worse, it could have been at 13,000 feet. The snowpack held up quite well through the rain on Monday. Met up with Russ and Ski Patroller Don riding hardboots at the top of Double Jaw. They

eventually fixed the Express lift, but conditions slowly deteriorated and called it a day around 3:30PM. My board was coated with sticky tar and resins - needed to completely clean and rewax.

We're gonna try for an evening session Thursday

  6. We had a great weekend riding with everyone this weekend. Started out with variable conditions with soft spots at the bottom and some crustiness higher up and in shady spots. Juggler Joe

and Double Jaw had some serious issues with ribbing and gashes from the

    groomer.

Russ, Jolson, Ms. Marlys Olson, Jane and myself started the day.

It got progressively slower and less carvable by early afternoon and

    folks called it a day.

Russ and I hung in there till 2PM till it was quite pointless.

Stopped by SkiHut and picked up a block of warm-weather

    wax for Tuesday afternoon.

  7. Beautiful days Saturday and Sunday. Traffic was rather heavy after lunch and called its day.

We have a confirmed sighting of Jolson!

Want to reemphasize bigwavedave's post. Spirit Mountain lift tickets are on sale for the 2012-13 season

at $139 (plus tax) through April 15, then the price starts to rise. These are also good for this season for

the month of March. This price is for everybody, even current pass holders.

  8. Russ was out earlier today.

I was out Monday evening and again this afternoon till the light got flat - rather hard, but still able to hold an edge if ridden gently. Not much of crowd, however after the school programs ended.

Decided to go with the Donek Metal FreeCarve 167 cm with a 19 cm waist and TD3s
