Ended our season with great riding at Copper Mountain. Back to running training on the road

Third day of awesome riding at Copper Mountain. Good weather and grooming, but a bit chopped up by noon today.

We should be at Copper for USASA by the 28th or 29th. Usually ride the blue runs off of Eagle:)

Did one run today...bulletproof cord between sheets of brown St Louis river water ice. 4Pipe was a bit tired looking. Packing for Copper Mountain Packing for Copper Mountain

First chair this morning at 10. All of the terrain south of Bindle Stiff was closed. Skyhooker was terrible with ice patches, but Bindle Stiff was fair. Did several runs down Cinder Snapper before it turned sticky. The final run back to Grand Ave down Bindle Stiff was awful. Left at 11. I’ll probably show up at some point tomorrow

It'll be interesting to see how hill operations can pull this together... Spirit Mountain 1h · This crazy warm weather did a number on the snow but the crew has been fighting the battle. We will stay closed tomorrow Thursday 3/14 to let the crew do some snow magic and then reopen for the season finale on Friday and Saturday and run from 10a-6p on both days! What exactly the terrain will look like is still to be determined but we will update here as we know more. We are for sure down some of our beginner-friendly terrain. The plan is still to hold SMASH on Saturday and celebrate another season even if it was the year winter didn't want to come. Thanks again to all of our wonderful supporters who play a huge part in making Spirit great. #SeeYouAtSpirit

Didn't Look promising on the Webcam... Spirit Mountain. 1h · We will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, March 13th. The record high temps the last few days have done a beating on what was already a weary hill. We may have lost this round, but we haven't given up all hope for the rest of the week. Our crew is still committed and fighting and will reassess the hill tomorrow to see what the possibilities for the rest of the week look like. Check back here tomorrow for more details.

Looks a bit dodgy under the lift, but hill operations knocked down the Tubing Park today. Maybe we'll be riding through there to bypass this. TBD

Rode for over an hour on 4Pipe, Double Jaw and Jugular Joe. Soft groom between icy patches, but not hard to find decent lines. Planning on 1st chair tomorrow.

First person on the chair today. 40F and perfect soft groom for about an hour. Things deteriorated quickly after 11 AM with 48F and lots of sticky spots. Went home and ran.

We’re back from AU/NZ. Rode for an hour on 1” of dust-on-crust. Tomorrow may be softer with 50F

No shadows again, but good granular groom. Rode from first chair for about an hour till it got too busy. Maybe first chair tomorrow again?

Got first chair today. Flat light and rutted hardpack. Left after an hour. Probably not worth the time and effort.

The week of cold was great, but fog and drizzle not so much. The Norse vision of Hell was cold and drizzle - kind of like April in Duluth. We may be headed for the longest April ever.

Out for an hour this afternoon hoping for a bit of sun. Surprised how crusty it was and it remained flat. We had 4 inches of fresh snow at our house. Looking ahead to colder temps and better light.

Jane and I are at USASA Nationals at Copper. Jane beat 2 other ladies in Halfpipe yesterday. Getting a lot of riding in on the Blues.

First chair again today. Plush groom on Four Pipe, still a bit icy elsewhere. Rode for 7 runs till it got too busy.

Out for first chair today. Big improvement over Thursday (almost anything would be better). Firm, but carvable. A lot of traffic from Homeschool Friday and a variety of 'groomer features' down the middle of Four Pipe. Planning for first chair Saturday.

Having a great time at USASA Nationals. Bluebird day and mild temps. Jane competes tomorrow in Slalom if the weather holds up. Forecast calls for 70 mph winds on the mountain. Perfect groom for carving on the Blue Runs off of American Eagle lift

The morning started with freezing fog, but burned off by first chair for a bluebird day. Groom was buttery smooth, and traffic was about normal for a March Saturday. Cinder Snapper was in good shape today. Everything was pretty beaten up after 1-1/2 hours and getting very soft.

Started out with nice soft groom, but tricky sticky spots developed in about an hour. Called it a day. Carl's wife's old Oxygen boots are 25.5s. Happy to bring them by the Ski Patrol office
