  1. Kym and I carved up the Thunder Dome on Friday. That guy can lay it right down on the snow! Conditions were excellent on Exhibition and Lower Comp.  Great snow making going on at night.

I saw Roy at Catamount today, he says that Mark was in town on Sat. Anyone see him?

    Conditions? Report, please!

Sorry, Micheal.  I just saw this. Great carving on the flatter snowmaking trails. The more narrow trails were pretty scraped down. The trails not open have sticks and brush poking out of the snow.

  4. We had a great day at the BEast on Tuesday after the 18" snowstorm.  Officially limited to a handful of open trails, but there were tracks on every trail and glade. It was great for softbootin'.

Heading up again on Sat 12/7.  Expecting more open terrain. Hoping that Exhibition will be open and cord. It was closed on Tues.

    COME ON OUT!

  5. I think the toe cleat acts a a bumper to keep your boot from sliding out of the otherwise unrestrained side of the binding.

What I keep hoping for is a "good" binding rotation mechanism that lets me rotate  my front foot to a pointing-straight-ahead position when I'm in the lift line. THAT would be awesome!

  6. It looks like you were in some pretty soft conditions but a 3/4" lift will give you more clearance/lean angle.  See pic. I've done this myself to ride low angles on an alpine board and for cants on softboots. I used PVC Trimboard from H.Depot ($30) to make lifts and cants. If you're handy ( or persuasive) you can make them yourself. Of course you need longer screws.

  7. Saturday is looking pretty good!  Maybe a bit warm...  Sunday not so good on the hill. I'm planning to head home after drinks/dinner on Sat.

    Saturday

Mostly sunny, with a high near 39. Light and variable wind.

    Saturday Night

Snow and sleet before 3am, then freezing rain and sleet. Low around 27. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

    Sunday

Freezing rain before 8am, then rain. High near 41. Light and variable wind. Chance of precipitation is 90%.

    How was it???

Monday was possibly the best day I ever had at the BEast...... softbootin' !  I spent the morning  surfing the new pow on every trail and the afternoon slashing the pow piled up along the edges. NICE!  (not a carver to be seen anywhere, except in the Crazy Horse! )
