  1. Hey Pow4Ever, per your quiver run-through above(sounds awesome by the way!)what is a typical length for a slalom board? Are these course-specific boards similar to skis in that they are typically shorter with more of a sidecut? Not currently in the market, just looking for distinction. Thanks! C
  2. Well that makes me feel a lot better because the last thing I would want to do is hold anyone up at any point. Again, very kind of you to include me in the posse! I look forward to meeting you all and the date I am looking at is 3/10/22 if this works. Now you got me thinking about mounting my F2 plates on my Incline for grins and giggles....that sounds like a ton of fun as this board already as some nice pop with the softies! Looking to go up to either Keystone or Breck tomorrow to try out all I have learned over the weekend to see if I can make nice with my Rev. Talk soon and I will let you know how it goes. Thanks again Ink. Best, Chris
  3. Hi there Ink and Mario, this is great stuff, thanks for the invite! It will be about 2 weeks before I can get to Loveland as I have the kids solo next weekend. I remain hopeful that I will have some turns under my belt before showing up so I don't get taken down in a Sissie Sled! I was looking at the terrain off Chet's and it looks pretty aggressive, but I did see a green and a blue circle waaaay off in the distance to nibble on. I was thinking about the quiver you guys were mentioning...makes total sense how the right equipment can really make a good day stellar. Hey Pow, I feel that progress way with my Incline as I have had it for 6 years and it still rides like a dream. II do not need another soft set up but a different alpine setup from the Rev(provided I end up keeping this) would be a nice bonus. The only thing I have not done with my incline it is mount hard boots to it....may have to try it some day. I am seeing that most members are riding at least 60 degrees....I am size 12 feet with doing 53/50. Is this extra 10 degrees you ride to prevent bootout or do you get more leverage on edges? My Rev has a 20 cm waist. C
  4. Gents, this is what I was looking for. The invite means a lot as well as your candor. Thank you for taking the time for the explanation. I have some serious thinking to do with this board. I am not afraid to admit this board may be too much for me or not a good fit for my riding style. I will give this another day or maybe two on the slopes to see if I can adapt my riding style to be a better fit for this board. This will give me a decision by this coming Thursday or so. In the interim, I will most likely take any reasonable offer for this as I think I know where this path is going to lead. Not going to officially post it For Sale yet, but if you know anyone who is in the market for a board like this, any reasonable offer would be most likely taken. Already come to the conclusion that this is going to be an expensive lesson for me. Ouch.
  5. Hello Corey, I am here to learn, soak up what the members are willing to share with me, and take no offense to any questions. I do like green circle trails and blue runs as well. I realized in my one two hour session that this board does not do well at <15mph.....equally as uncomfortable for me as going too fast. I would not be doing black runs with this, exclusively greens and blues but aggressive riding, similar to how I ride my soft setup. I ride my Incline(175cm) on the same types of trails. I love the VSR and the directional shape of this board. I do not know if I purposely load up my Incline, I just know it carves extremely well and seems to have an innate sense of what I want it to do. My old Proteus I sold in favor of this Rev made me a better rider and I am looking for similar output. Will the Rev eventually get me to that sweet spot I am looking for or I have to be Superman to keep this rig under control? Meaning is this a hard booting technique issue, a strength issue, or a board model issue(meaning I have chosen the wrong board). No wrong answer, as if I am asking something that this Rev can't do, that is an important data point I need to consider and will have to part ways with it and hunt for something else.
  6. That is a fantastic video by Sean and I love the "You will not get better as a rider if your stance does not evolve along the way...." Those springs seem a little over the top but the cant/lift solution for $20 sounds like a no-brainer. Thanks so much for sharing your time and expertise on this. I really need to get lower and get the board up on edge to get this to perform, plain and simple. Will take some practice no doubt. I was supposed to get out today but decided that mid-week this week would be better to practice these turns where I have some elbow room vs fighting the weekend crowds at Keystone/Breck. Will report my findings, thanks again! C
  7. Awesome description about the tip vs tail and riding preference of one board vs another. My old Proteus seemed more neutral biased, whereas I can see how the Rev needs more rider input out front to make this work. It makes sense now about why I felt so out of control as I spent too much time in the back seat letting the board ride me. I do not have a toe lift or a heel lift in front, only a heel lift in back. I didn't quite understand your last part.....my front foot is flat and rear foot has a heel lift. Are you saying I should get a toe lift or a heel lift for the front foot? Thanks! Chris
  8. Hello Mr. Hamann, great input, thank you. I just looked at my 4th mount of the day, and these changes are not on a slope, but rather at my kitchen table! I am at 53/50 right now to prevent bootout, and in comparison to your K80, I still have a ways to go. For grins and giggles, would you be able to quantify, ballpark, how long the "eventually" stage lasts? I am 53, not racing, and I am trying to figure out if I need to start taking growth hormones or steroids to be able to handle this board or if I should let someone who is either more skilled than I or stronger, or both to take it off my hands and go with something with a little more enjoyment factor to it. Thoughts?
  9. So am I reading here that I should ride similar angles in back as I am in front?? That would be very foreign to me. I am getting a pretty good workout in today as my bindings have been taken off and remounted three times already today. Not getting the wine reference, but I visited an alpinecarving site earlier and came up with the current solution....which I guess is not going to work. C
  10. OK, try this.... I have size 12 feet so getting them to fit on anything more narrow would be a chore.
  11. Hi Barry, here is a picture of the boots mounted on the Rev. I have changed the stance per your/Dave's input to the front and am looking forward to trying it out tomorrow. If an alternate picture angle would be better, I would be happy to take more as this feedback you are providing is killer. The bindings are 20 inches apart on center. Corey, thanks for your note as well. Pardon my ignorance but by "Beating on it" what exactly do you mean? A fellow member Jonny used another term which I assume is similar which was "pouncing on" his Proteus. When I rode my Proteus, I just made carves and let my weight determine the arcs that I made, so I am unfamiliar with what it means to beat on/pounce on a board. Are you talking about bending the board? Could two of my headwinds perhaps here be my legs are not tree trunks and I am not racing it? This sled has a tendency to get to blistering speed very quickly. I like speed but under control speed, so I am deliberately not waxing it for tomorrow's venture. Where I am is that the board at low speeds doesn't like to turn and at higher speeds, I don't have the control to keep the board in check. Chris
  12. Awesome to know, thank you for your input as well, Barry. I am a big fan of how fellow, more experienced carvers are willing to share their knowledge! Will change the stance as I had the bindings one set of inserts back and it felt like the nose was waaay too long, hence my initial inquiry into something that would help initiate a turn. I plan on getting back to the drawing board tomorrow at Keystone or Breck and will let you know how the changes go. On my 170cm Proteus my bindings were placed 19.5 inches apart(center to center) and I found this comfortable, do you think I could/would benefit from a wider stance given the additional 4 inches of board length on this Rev? The Proteus was a 19cm waist whereas the Rev has a 20 cm waist.....not a huge difference but a difference nonetheless. Any thoughts on making my bindings(F2 Titanium) a little more open so the front and back are sitting closer to the edges, or should I just be working on moving the bindings to the front and ride the same angles I was riding on my Proteus? Per the feedback I have gotten, Stella has to get her Groove back before she can shop for an AF-Plate! Thanks again so much for your and Dave's time and input, it means a bunch. I look forward to continuing this discussion and learning more from you guys! Chris
  13. Dave, that is super helpful and I will try sliding the bindings forward, THANK YOU! The Rev I have was made for a 180-205lbs rider and I am right at the top of this range at 205-210. Interestingly, I am finding it no stiffer than my Proteus was. This Rev has a p-tex topsheet making it very damp.....so say the reviews. These are not my words, as I haven't gotten up and running well enough on this Rev to even know what damp means other than "moist". This Rev is one year old and is in such pristine shape it could pass as new....hence adding to my aggravation as I want to do more with this Rev than look at it! One thing I grew to count on was the predictability of the fixed edge radius in my old Proteus, and I can honestly say the Proteus made me a better snowboarder, both in hardboots and soft boots. I find myself struggling on this Rev and fighting it the whole way down the mountain. I don't feel in control like I did on the Proteus, regardless of conditions or slope grade. Perhaps I was hoping for a more "plug-and-play" option without such a dramatic difference in ride, handling, edge hold, stability at speed, etc. Is this something that will come with time, or in your opinion, should I sell this Rev to someone who will appreciate it more than I will and go back to a metal freecarve board similar to a Proteus? Full disclosure, I have only spent one day on this Rev and I honestly could not wait to get off it. I remain hopeful that your(Dave's advice) of moving the bindings forward will help me out. Any insight is much appreciated. Best, Chris
  14. Hi there Barry, thanks for the note. I had bounced some ideas off bigwavedave regarding helping me initiate turns on my Rev, but he said that I was out of luck and no plate would help me out. I am sort of in a pickle as I sold my Proteus in order to buy this Rev and I can't stand it. I find it very difficult to turn, it seems to be unwilling to finish a carve, and my "fun-factor" is non-existent with this board. Pretty substantial buyer's remorse with this all the way around. UGH. You may be seeing this Rev up for a fire sale on ASB. It is a blue 180cm in 9.75/10 condition. What is with all the hype about this board?? I really don't get it as my experience with it has been dismal and I seem to be the only member of humanity who has EVER written something negative about it. I see you have a Rev....do you like it? What am I missing that apparently everyone else seems to get? Chris
  15. Looking for a Donek F-Plate or similar plate system that mounts directly to board. Would consider Donek AF Plate if price is right. Thanks! Chris Forgot to mention.....I am looking to UPM setup NOT 4x4.
  16. Board has been sold.  Thanks!

  17. Hello Charles. I have a 170cm Proteus with 11M SCR....base and topsheet in very good condition that I will be putting up over the next day or so. It has the green tree python topsheet. I am 200 lbs and this board works great for me. Are you still looking for one or have you found one at this point? Thanks, Chris
  18. OK, great. I am very interested. Would you be able to send a picture of the topsheet and base to my regular email when you can? The picture on this website is not that clear. cjc@7300wealth.com Do you take venmo or Zelle? Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you. Chris
  19. Morning, I have a Donek Proteus 170 with the green tree python topsheet in very good condition(similar age as the Coiler, perhaps a year or two newer). Would you consider an outright trade or is this Coiler board still available for purchase? Thanks! Chris
  20. Good morning, is this Rev still available? Thanks much, Chris
