  1. Hey friends! looking to go up tomorrow, I’m an epic pass holder but really looking for good carving terrain with not too much Friday crowd. Thoughts on Belleayre vs MC vs Blue Mountain vs Hunter? anyone of you fine carvers heading up tomorrow?
  2. Ie next season any thoughts on Ski Barn repairs in NJ?
  3. Hey folks! have had a fantastic season on my Coiler BXFR..last day I got hit my a uphill skier, thankfully I made it out mostly okay but my baby did not (no I did not take the skiers details but I learned that I should have..) bruce already sent me notes on how the repair should be done (cutting a small semi circle of the base above the dimple and then hammering edge and the bent tab causing the dimple, epoxy and ptex to finish). question: do folks here have a repair shop around NJ/NY area (we are in Hudson county) they love and trust?
  4. @fumbimo very timely and thank you! Yep I have 0 lean front, a few points on back and will now adjust from +42/+27 that I was riding to +42/+33 to try yours While I figure out a potential riding day with Martin at Park City, wanted to post two clips of carving (..or failing to..) from Park City, I’m on a Soul 165XT, +42/+27 and have been following the K-carving guys videos a lot many things are wrong here but I typically find it way easier to get deep turns on toe side (still need some work to keep torso away from snow and getting back knee lower into snow), but I am REALLY struggling with getting that upper torso and pelvic rotation “into and leading the heelside turn” which also I think gets one low enough to touch snow on heelsides. My left Butt cheek is hurting today from 3 consecutive days of edge giving out most times I tried to really get lower than shown here. the Korean guys tip of sitting in the tail with back knee bent and extending the front leg definitely helped with heelside turn initiation but every time I tried to go lower and get my butt and left hand close to the snow I just fall into the carve unable to recover to an edge change to toe side… two videos front and back view: https://imgur.com/a/JMNqAWH example of heelside washout: https://imgur.com/a/RjgDs9s
  5. Thank you JT! I’m in PC this week but will be back next week, would love to hit up you and the Mountain Creek crew, will be in touch on that thread!
  6. Thank you ! wound up with a Coiler BXFR and a Soul 165XT - both are amazing but still learning how to get the most out of them!
  7. That PDF looks great too! Will try this Korean dudes progression - the exercises are helpful but that’s the first time I’ve seen someone break the motions of k carving down into a linear progression anyone have any experiences to share on what made their k carving journey go well / faster I’d appreciate it (generally have no issues regular American carving, can throw a toe side euro on demand etc but this style looks way cooler and I think controls speed wayyy better with tighter turns which is why I’m after it)
  8. Wow that K-carving series is fantastic!! I need to practice this pelvic positioning thing seems to be the most crucial part what are folks trying this running on their boards? I have a US 10.5 boot on a 27cm waist carving deck and I’m doing +33 +21 but maybe I should try +39/+24 since that dude is running +42… sadly the high backs on my Flow NX2 don’t rotate… I was also riding with a lot of forward lean I’ll try removing it but it’s gonna be sketchy for heelsides… I was riding 4/5 lean front and 2/5 lean back
  9. Hello friends, I posted this in the ride board section (Southwest Northeast) for local folks but not sure how active that is so figured I’d ask here as well - if against rules please let me know and I’ll delete. I live in NJ and am looking for some soft boot carving instruction. Caught the K carving / Japanese carving bug, I’ve tried resort instructors at Stowe and Okemo but did not find them helpful for the style of carving I’m looking to learn (dual positive binding angles, getting low on turns you know the cliché…). I can post a video and while commentary is helpful I think nothing is as helpful as someone who is adept at the skill and also good at teaching it to folks like me with bad habits like hunching my shoulders on toe sides and hinging at the hips. I am certain my gear is not the issue. I’m an intermediate rider, I broadly know what I’m doing wrong but not sure what exercises or things to do and how to progression to get better. Sometimes feel like I have it but then a video shows poor form and just bad habits. Live in Nj, have a car, and am on Epic but flexible. Would have loved to do Montucky but sadly unable to and at the moment flying somewhere maybe uncertain so figured I’d ask for local help first. Any advice on finding instructors where I am much much appreciated!

  11. Hey friends! looking to pick up a rear entry binding for a US 10.5 boot. Something like an NX2 with the hybrid strap in size large could work - if you have something like that please hit me up! Open to other similar rear entry systems, for softboot carving setup
  12. So sorry for the double post (I am unsure how to delete it) but after some conversations with the knowledgeable and very kind members of this community, I am looking for an SG Soul 159XT or 164XT, or a board with similar specs as these two. Please let me know if you'd like to find a new caring home for yours! (first dedicated softboot carver for me)
  13. Agreed! If I settle for a 26cm waist width and just riding it at +33/+27, I think a ton of other choices open up. Never thought a US10.5boot would be sasquatch level for anything, but turns out it is for snowboarding. Kind of surprised besides Donek and the specialized folks in the US, there is almost nothing that meets the mark. the Soul is about the only board I can find - tons of options in Japan/Korea, super expensive to buy and to ship The Alloy DO looked so so promising but at 25.8cm at the widest...I'm just deathly afraid of narrow boards, I was both elated AND depressed to realize on my Dart that I had been booting out trying to euro carve at 15/-15 (I just assumed it was my technique and not boot out) @scottishsurfer that profile pic is the dream (kudos to your camera person, I need friends like that). I want to get my heelsides to look like that this coming season on whatever deck I wind up with.
  14. Hello folks! I am new to the forum and quite lost. I am by no means a beginner, been riding for 6 years, spend about 20-30 days on mountain - mostly US north east (VT) but some trips out west. I currently ride a Korua Dart 160, which was a game changer for my carving. I am 170-180lbs weight range, 6 ft tall and US 10.5 boot. I had no idea that I was just booting out on my 26cm boards. The dart 160 was a revelation at 28cm waist, for +27/+12 - but still at very deep carves back heelside would boot-out sometimes, I think I can probably avoid this with some fine tuning and maybe going more positive. My main challenge with the Dart was that I could easily overpower it, a bit too much weight on the nose and it would toss me over the handlebars. This led me to finding out about Japanese/korean softboot carvers like this guy - this style of riding is all I ever really want to do on a board, its what I dream of most nights in the summer but I am really struggling to find a suitable first dedicated softboot carver that doesn't break the bank - I have searched these forums as well, please humor me with some directional/guidance on some/any of the below! I presume I need: stiff, hammerhead board, long effective edge north of 120cm, SCR in the 10-14m range, stiff tortionally and stiff length wise, camber and ideally some early rise in the nose to be a bit forgiving. I would prefer not to use riser plates - I have Rome Targa 2018 and Union Force 2017 bindings, both fairly responsive the Targas are quite stiff. Ride insano 10.5 boots. (1) what new boards that wont break the bank would be good for me? Ones I have found: SG Soul 159XT vs 164XT? This Nobile could it work? I'm not sure if "BX" board = a good softboot carving board? are there others like this? OES FR ? but in what size and construction? I heard they dont spring a lot during turns - this looks damn near perfect otherwise I checked Alloy AZX1/DO, and boy I wish they made it in wide they are damn near perfect. Hoping there are some sales or something, even open to demos or older stock...going custom Donek may be the answer later on but hoping to not make an expensive mistake on my first dedicated real carving board. (2) Construction: I have no idea what carbon, kevlar (OES), Titanal do in a board - any suggestions as to whether I should /should not look for? (3) Bonus hail mary question: if you have something that may fit the bill that is getting less love recently and would like to find another caring home for it, please hit me up! (I'm based in NYC area)
