  1. Just an FYI, you might want to look at the spell check here... as we may not want to be conversing about your wife's red thong, and I think you might have been writing about the tongue in the boot instead...

  2. Anyone up White Mountain area this upcoming weekend? My son and I do Nastar at Bretton Woods and would love to see the competition from snowboarders.  Ping me if anyone will be up that way Saturday or Sunday.

  3. Having had my foot come out of a TD3 that was not sufficiently tight, I have learned a valuable lesson myself on how bad things can be on an alpine board with only one foot attached in a hard turn at high speed. I was lucky as to get to a crashed turtle stance and slide on my back down the hill without hurting myself or others. Since then, my bindings are very tight, and I check them multiple times before gates or any time I want to drop plates and get a high edge on a hard carve.

    I am purely an amateur.

If any of my friends whom I don't hold a candle to their skill level ever lost a boot with one of their runs, I am sure severe damage would happen to someone. Please be careful with these bindings as I am not the expert to say what could be done, and I wouldn't want anyone to get hurt.

  4. I stopped putting my boards on the roof rack due to the salt spray from the road causing my wax to be slow, and my edges to rust. Especially with my alpine boards, I just suck it up and make room on the inside for them. My edges stay sharper, my wax stays slicker, and in general, the boards look better....

Just my 2 cents and I hope this helps.

  5. The waffle washer is a very thin washer, with a wave type shape. In the event you cannot get another, go to your hardware store and get a VERY thin copper or brass washer with the same hole size as the Allen bolt, and bend it slightly and use that. The idea is to have the washer put a little pressure on the arm and that will keep it from flopping. You could also use a plastic tiny washer, but it is more likely to simply break due to the changes in the temperature.

Whatever you do, be sure the Allen bolt still inserts far enough and also you may want to use some LockTight blue to ensure the Allen doesn't back out again. I imagine, if you beg Bomber, they might have a few spares to sell you......

  6. Depending on where in the East Coast you go, you will find many from in here. If it is the White mountains, anywhere within the SuperPass, you might run into myself and my son. Others have their own favorite mountain. Personally, I like the torture of the wind and cold (often leading to ICE) of Cannon, but then there are the easier days of race the gates or whatever.

My advise is, when you see other carvers, say hello. We all like to hang with like minded people and in general, unless racing or some event participation, will welcome your company. Come join the madness of watching 10 day weather reports, smiling when the first ice fills the bird bath, and constantly look in here for updates on news of our addiction.

    We welcome you.

  7. Seems like you have plenty of good advice here, but please let my give just a bit more.

The one thing I have noticed is the hard booting comunity is very open. If you see a hard booter, there is a very good chance they are on some equipment they are proud of, or have one hell of a good story about. Reach out to them, and say hello in the lift line.

Hardbooting with a fellow hardbooter for a day will and I find to be one of the best things as I haven't found any who shun the company of others.
