  1. SOLD

I tried to ride this board with 25.5 hard boots and it worked better then I feared, but not well enough to keep it. Needs soft boots or larger hard boots to properly use its potential.

Loves soft snow, great for spring conditions, floats on anything, ridden 7 times. Base is perfect (I ride with lots of wax and let the snow do the corking for me.) The factory base structure is perfect, the edges are excellent (I touched them up by hand) 1* Base, +.5*(1.5* total) side edge.

    $250 shipped U.S., $270 to Canada

Here is what others have said about this awesome board

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 width="100%"><TBODY><TR><TD colSpan=2>All Terrain Flow - We have finnessed the Omen into a solid, smooth platform for powder and all mountain exploration at any speed, torsionally mellow so you twist and flex the board into surfy carves and slashes. The Omen also has progression construction for improved float with decreased weight. Improved board and snow feel, freeride functionality, and Craig Kelly's stamp of approval.

    • Sintered Base - Durable and higly porous, a sintered base has effective wax absorption, resulting in gretaer speed and overall glide performance
    • Lite triax fiberglass - One lengthwise layer of fiberglass topped with two layers of diagonal glass provides a board's torsional stiffness for more precise carving and turn initiation
    • Carbon I-beam - carbon backbone that gives the board added longitudinal snap
    • Super Fly II Core - An engineered vertical sandwich of hard and soft woods means light weight, snap, and strenth for riders who need power and durabilitywithout compromise
    • Dualzone EGD - By running the wood grain along the toe and heel edges, perpendicular to the rest of the wood core, the board provides precise edge hold and durability
    • Progression Construction - using advanced core profiling technology, lighter and more efficient tip and tail
    • Reduced swing weight and better float in powder

  2. If you don't know what the best wearing (they say three sets of boots to one liner) then you have not heard of Zip Fit liners.

I love the liners and the support and the fit only gets better the more you use them, but they are just too big and will not even fit in my current preferred boot thus no need for them.

Please note that the toe area has almost no volume. all the volume is designed to be around the leg down to the heel and forward on the sides of the foot.

These are Italian made Leather interior and exterior lined (ohhh the luxury) Grand Prix model. The Volume is adjustable by adding or removing the non toxic special material.

check out their site for more cutting edge info.

  4. Captain Connor,

If you have been able to figure out what the stiffest soft boot rig is, you can figure out a hard boot set up.

Bindings are pretty straight forward and it is hard to go wrong with Bomber, Catek or F2.

Boards sounds like you want just about any GS or SL race board.

Boots ahh boots, these are the most personal. Consider that you can use softish ski boots and eBay has lots of deals on used boots, look for some with a strap near the ankle if possible.

If you accept that you rig will change over time it will take a lot of pressure off trying to peer into the future and get the "right" rig the first time out.

As always there are stores that would love to sell you new stuff depending on your budget.

    Bomber

    hardbooter

    XYZ

In short, find some boots to start and accept that you will probably obtain a small quiver over time.

  5. On Cateks the Lever/clamp is removable from the front bail and is able to be reoriented properly regardless of bail orientation.

My idea is to flip the bail not the front pad. the challenge is how to orient the clamp such that it will still work. On Cateks it is one screw, poof done.

It almost looks like Fin bends the front bail after the clamp is slipped on "locking" it on the bail. See photo attached for reference.

I think I have heard of using Catek pads and bails on Bomber bindings maybe this is why. Maybe some SI folks have extra Catek standard front pads and bails available.

  6. Jack,

Excellent posting and Review! Please make sure it finds its place to be accessible over time to the community, it would be a crime for this to get lost or buried.

The article helped me to pick Sean as my go to guy. I am never going to race but from a business stand point I want folks to know that he nailed it, being able to suss out what was/is desired and use his expertise to turn that real every day usable products.

I just think he nailed it.

    Kevin
