  1. Good find, but some of the harder chargers might find these a bit noodly. I bought a set of closeout women's Black Diamond liners a few years ago, and when my feet grew a size I bought the guys ones. There was a significant difference - the women's ones are definitely softer. These might be different, but if they're marked for ladies they're probably soft.

Glad they work for you though! Liners are pricey, always good to score a deal.

  2. I have my free day to use, and that will be it for the season for me. The motorcycle comes out of the garage on Sunday, and the boards will be waxed up and put away.

Anyone interested in going up Saturday? Current forecast for K Country looks better for Saturday than Sunday.

  3. What a great day. We've had so little sunshine at home this spring, that it was lovely to just be cruising around under blue skies, and sitting on slow chairs catching rays. West took me on a "get to know your mountain - Chair 11" day, which was super fun! I quit earlier than the guys, and sat on the fence at Beerfest soaking up the sunshine.

Be up this morning, but have to quit at midday. There's weather coming in for the drive home, and I don't really need another seven hour white knuckle ride like it took to get here. I'm gonna miss the 2.30 Easter service with Jesus. Dang.

Wow! Thirst WARP 8 R!  Thirst is from North Idaho and is geographically considered part of Montucky.  I can’t wait to try it out... I have 4 days of riding planned starting Thursday!

I want to know what you think. Everyone seems to love their boards, and I might be in the market next season ... as much as I love Coilers, I'm feeling the need to try something different and this might fit the bill.

You going to swing past the Fish this weekend?

  5. It amuses me that at the  local hill this year, they cut a "easy way down" green run down to a chair that has no green runs off it, only steep blues and blacks. I'm still trying to figure out the management logic on that.

I'm pretty much with Phil. I paid for my lift pass, so I don't feel bad about trenching up runs. Other people paid for theirs, they can go wherever on the hill they like. Regardless of what the run is posted as, you should be looking out for other people anyway.

But I'll totally laugh if someone wipes out and slides all the way to the bottom of a steep run, when their skis are still at the top.

  6. Dude. I think it's John E who has as his sig "Any cat can make cord, but only God can make powder".

You're missing out on one of life's most sublime experiences. I get up early for good groom, but there's nothing like surfy turns on butter-smooth fresh pow. Doesn't matter if you can't see anything, you'll have a soft landing when you crash. Learn to ride that stuff. It does wonders for your balance.

I gave myself second degree frostbite on a -20C/-8F powder day years ago, that still rates as one of the best days of my life.

  7. Between Oly lifting training, Crossfit and carving, my knees hate me pretty much all the time.

Glucosamine daily, ibuprofen right after riding, rolling series on the quads/glutes/IT's, and lots of stretching in saddle pose keep knee pain in check pretty well for me. A lot of mine is compression - my knees feel much worse after a day on choppy snow v a day on good groom. I notice the same when I do a lot of lifting volume, and hit the platform hard in lifting shoes. If I do the same volume in Crossfit class on the rubber mats with softer shoes, I don't have anywhere near the same issues.

I've been thinking about knee sleeves too, it sounds like I might have to get some.

  8. You timed it well. There's snow coming this weekend and conditions should be excellent next week.

I guess it depends on what the rest of the family wants to ride. I've never been to Norquay, but I'd happily ride all the rest of those hills on a Nirvana.. And the groomers at Nakiska and Louise should be stellar on two day groom..

I really think you'd kick yourself in you left the carver at home...you can always rent a high end soft board, but it doesn't work the other way around.
