  1. 1. Read the airlines rules online. They've reduced the weights.

They also may ask how many boards are inside. Limit 1. I have always

been successful in getting through with up to 4, if the weight is o.k.

    2. Weigh all your bags at home while packing.

    3. Pack with soft clothing wrapped around boards. Don't waste weight on

packing materials. You don't have any extra.

    4. "Emergency repack" at curbside if you are over the majic weight.

    5. Maximum "carry on" bag capacity available for repacking.

    5. Check in curbside.

    6. Tip the skycap.

    7. Have the prettiest member of the family handle the baggage. Dress

    "appropriately"

    8. Sportsexpress.com will pick up at your house and deliver your stuff to

the hotel and may cost about what 2 weight overcharges would cost

(one each way). Then you can bring more "other stuff". Lot's less

    hassle, too.

  2. I just opened an email alert from NBColympics.com. At 4:30 am they sent me an email saying the Women's PGS was scheduled for 5:00 am, just 30 minutes later!!

It is still scheduled for 4-5 pm.

It looks like they have deleted coverage from Thursday primetime, 8pm-11pm and moved the finals earlier to 4-5 pm and taken the semifinals from 4-5pm and moved them earlier to 5am.

How many people are reading their email at 4:30 am?

But of course, the stunning amount of Curling coverage continues!!! Some times with different elims on 2 channels at the same time!

  4. I assume the 4-5 pm Wednesday coverage is of the PGS Eliminations, and the Finals are in the evening.

Same schedule for Women/Chicks Thursday. I just love watching girls on Carving boards!!

Check your local TV schedule for changes.

Jack, please amend your thread title.

Will Canadian TV have more coverage? We will have to count on the Canadian Carvers to tape it for us.

  5. Barry,

Windham is about 100 miles from the New York/New Jersey border at Route 17 and the NYS Thruway, Interstate 87. Take exit 21 off the Thruway and go west 24 miles on Route 23 to Windham.

Call me at 732-604-0594 if you wish.

Try visiting mapquest.com for distance to DC.

Check out the "ride board", NY, PA, NJ section, for the other replies to see some of the others who are coming.

    Hope to see you there.

  6. Carvers,

There must be 35% hardbooters in the Olympic Snowboard Cross Men's eliminations. One 4 man heat had 3 hardbooters and the softbooter in last place fell.

The annoncer is repeatedly discussing the differences between the setups.

They did a slow motion, tight finish, closeup of 2 competitors finishing

1 & 2 and they both clearly had hardboots.

The Silver Medalist was on Hardboots.

Millions of viewers are saying, "I think I saw a couple of Snowboarders at the mountain last weekend with boots like that. "

  7. PGS watchers,

Here is the link to a bio on Jasey Jay Anderson. Coiler and Bruce Varsava are mentioned.

Sports Illustrated predicts he will win two Silver Medals.

    Good Luck Jasey Jay !!!

Did Bruce go to Torino? Is he healing quickly?

And thanks again to Bruce Varsava for donating one of Jasey Jay's World Cup podium winning snowboards to the 2004 ECES, which I won and enjoy.
