  1. I don't have problem with it, but I believe that I have read that it is a caused by a buildup of Lactic Acid in the leg muscles.

Eating bananas during the day is supposed to help.

If you contact Sportlegs.com they may be willing to send you a free sample. I got one but have never used it.

Try a Google search for " thigh burn" and

    see what comes up.

I love to lock my boots down, most of the time, and wouldn't want to give that up.

  2. Scorpio, go on TrailwayNY.com and check the schedule. The bus stop is close to the Mountain, at the Exxon Station, at most a half mile away. Maybe we could pick you up, since the walk is uphill or there will always be people stopping at the Exxon on their way to the Mountain.

Call me at 732-604-0594, if you wish.

    Bricky.

  3. Tripine,

I'm very disappointed at your negativism and lack of respect. Your objective is what ? To ruin someone else's fun? To quash my event?

Upon reading your post, I assumed you were from a big mountain somewhere, disrespecting those of us who prefer not to drive 6 hours twice a weekend to get to a big mountain.

Low and behold, I checked your member profile at Bomber and you are from HUNTER MOUNTAIN, 10 miles from Windham!!!. Unfortunatley, you don't have the guts to put all the information about yourself in your profile, so you are chicken to communicate as yourself.

I'd love to ride with you - at Hunter.

But I am a gentleman, and if you come to one day of the Windham Carvefest, I'll buy your ticket! Why don't you give me a call? My phone number is 732-604-0594.

    I enjoy carving there enormously.

Many people feel the mountains are nearly equal as far as enjoyment. I know one excellent carver who carves both.

Last year, Steve Prue, Ronski, Maciek, BobbyBuggs, Mike B. and one other guy attended.

Why don't you host a Hunter Carve Session and do something FOR

    Carvers?

    Bricky.

A carver, carving, sort of like the old ECES logo.

BEST CARVING RUNS. TonyZ recommends his top 10 carving runs below. If you arrive late, this is where you will most likely meet other Carvers.

TONYZ'S BEST CARVING RUNS, in order of priority.

    1. Upper Chief, a good warm up if no

    racing is scheduled.

    2. Upper and Lower Fall Line ( If lift is

    open)

    3. Rimrock to Wildthing (underneath

    the Southface Quad.

    4. Timberline (Hopefully triple chair will

be open) If the chairlift is closed for

Timberline, still do the lower section.

the snow is always good that area

    (Solitude)

    5. Sapphire to Solitude base area

    6. Exhibition and Heaven Gate

    (Solitude area)

    7. Lower Limelight to Jackson Gore

    Base

    8. Quantum Leap (Jackson Gore area)

    9. WarDance (Hopefully no race

    warmups)

    10. Jolly Green Giant (Narrow trail but

    very nice)

3 more- Sunburst, Upper Tomahawk and Upper World Cup.

Meeting location at 10 am, for late arrivals: Ride the Solitude Express Quad and you should see Carvers.

You will spend most of the day in the Solitude area. You can go back and forth to Jackson Gore and the Summit Peak very easily from Solitude, via high speed quad.

CARVERS ONLY, PRIVATE RUN. I have put a request in for a run for "Carvers Only". They are going to see what they can do. Midday regrooming is not possible. I tried!

Print this out now and put it in your carving jacket!

FRS RADIO CHANNEL. 5, SUBCHANNEL 12.

    STILL PHOTOS. Bring your camera

VIDEO. Kevin Burke, (pawblo.com)who did much of the Video at 2002 ECES at Stratton may be able to make it. I suggested Friday and Saturday. He skis very fast and can simply follow Carvers down the hill, besides the stationary shots. I would hope that everyone can make a small $$contribution.

CHANNEL 12, BRATTLEBORO. They will consider airing some video or .JPEG stills on Saturday, if we get them to them by Friday. their email for stills is spotsrsn12@adelphia.net. Can any of you locals with internet help with this? Video would have to be sent by a server, Todd Maietta, at Channel 12, says.

RSN NETWORK. We have contacted RSN.com, which now covers Okemo. They have agreed to look at our video and if it is good enough, they will consider airing some of it!!!

I also am looking for volunteers with or without cameras to record all the fun.

Several of you have offered to bring video cameras.

TonyZ suggests the Solitude area and Jackson Gore area and Upper Chief for carving photography spots .

EVERY MORNING: At the Lift at the Base Lodge, or earlier in the cafeteria for breakfast. Lifts open at 8 am on the weekends, 9 am weekdays. Then let the degrooming begin!

TonyZ reports that although the lifts open officially at 9 am during the week, he has gotten on as early as 8:35. You groom smasher !!! Maybe they will let us on early on the weekends, too.

LUNCH: 11:45am. Let's grab some seats, Sugar House. Outdoor and Indoor service. Located on the slope, above the Base lodge. Close enough to ride down and get something from your duffle bag or switch boards at the Base Lodge, and return to the Sugar House.

APRES' CARVE: 3-6 PM. Sitting Bull Bar, In the Base Lodge. Let's do a daily group Photo outside the Sitting Bull. I need some of you to bring Carving Videos/DVDs to play in the bar, if they will let us. They have a big screen TV. Does anyone have the SES 2003 and 2004 DVDs?

DINNER: Some final info or changes may be spread by "word of mouth" or posted on a possible "Carvers Gone Wild" Bulletin Board. See me on the mountain. I'm always in an Orange Jacket with Black pants and black helmet, and usually on an Orange Board

    Wednesday: You're on your own.

Thursday: 7pm, Christopher's Sports & Spirits, The Mill, 145 Main Street, across from Factory Point Bank. I've told them 30 Carvers will attend.

Friday: 7 pm Christopher's Sports & Spirits. Let's have a Brainstorming Session" about expanding the number of Carvers and a Q&A session about "Tips and Techniques". I've told them 30 carvers will attend.

(Okemo wanted $500 just for the Banquet Room, plus food, so I didn't do it.)

Saturday: 7pm, Christopher's, no reservations, it may be packed. If there is a consensus, we can go elsewhere Saturday. Ronski suggests the Roundhouse.

Restaurant/Bar suggestions from you locals would be appreciated.

HOT TUB: One of you needs to rent a place with an indoor pool and/or hot tub! Hard Carving needs Hot Water.

ALL DAY GATHERING SPOT/TENT: Do any of you have a tent like the Bomber tent? Chairs too? TonyZ is bringing a tuning stand.

BULLETIN BOARD: I am thinking trying to erect a small "Carvers Gone Wild" Bulletin Board - a piece of Orange cardboard on a wooden stake or a wall at the bottom of the Solitude Lift and outside the Sitting Bull. You could leave messages there for other Carvers, too.

GROUP PHOTO: Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 4:20pm, outside the Sitting Bull, or we may try it outside the Sugarhouse after Lunchtime, say 12:30pm.

BOARD LEASHES REQUIRED. TONY Z RECOMMENDS BOARD LOCKS.

DEMO GEAR: There will be some privately owned boards to demo. I will pursue Manufacturer's/Dealers demo gear. I will bring a Burton Alp 164, with Burton Bindings, to loan.

SWAP MEET, USED BOARDS, BINDINGS, BOOTS, ETC: Every evening in the Sitting Bull. Bring your gear you want to part with for hard cash. Make a new carver happy! Ronski will be offering the following boards:

SPONSORS: All sponsors are welcome. Please contact me.

INSTRUCTION, LESSONS" In response to popular demand.... John Gilmour may be here to give his "Get Dialed In" Seminar. This is a chalk talk and "on the snow" format event. He will help you with your board/binding/boot setup "on the rug" and then go out and watch you ride, with further comments. He needs a minimum of 6 carvers at $40 each. Please indicate your interest here on Bomberonline.com. The Seminar is conditioned upon John returning from Aspen in time.

PSR (Eric Brammer) WILL BE RIDING WITH US ON THURSDAY, WITH CHRIS NELSON. He and Chris will be available for lesson time/tips. See my March 9th post below for more details.

PSR suggests that you contact Chris Nelson, a Level 3 Carving Instructor at Okemo on the other days.

Ronski has volunteered to help out with tips also.

New Carvers, don't be bashful! Ask questions of all the carvers you see, anything you want to know.

MEDICAL EMERGENCY: Although you won't be injured carving, you might be hit by a downed airplane or helicopter or attacked by a Bear, Elk or the Easter Bunny so I would suggest providing Emergency Medical Contact Info to me and a couple of other carvers. You should also keep a printed sheet in your pocket.

OFFICIAL ADDRESS: If you need to have something FEDEXed to you, the address is: Okemo Mountain Resort

    MORE INFO COMING!!!

  8. This is not OT. You gotta see the June/July 2004 issue of SKI Magazine.

On page 102 there is an article about the #1 ranked pro slalom waterskier Jamie Beauchesne. There is a nice picture of him on a toeside carve, on one ski of course. He says he snow skis 120 days a year.

Here is some of the dialog:

"New- school slalom watersking technique parallels the technique of alpine ski racing"

"In this photo, I'm at the point in the turn that most simulates snowskiing. I've got equal pressure on both feet, and I have a quiet upper body. My eyes are looking down the slalom course, not across it. My hips and knees are angulating. I patiently finish the turn by tipping the ski on edge allowing it to carve underneath me"

"Everything a snow skier thinks about is what I try to do while waterskiing" [sure, like, which ski is the downhill ski? Oops, I'm only one ski this season!! Or, Oh ****!, where did my other ski go?]

To stay "ski-tough" practice tipping your waterski on edge and allowing your legs to move side to side underneath your quiet upper body. Cut across the wake of your boat and imagine your legs swinging like a pendulum underneath you. Try to feel your edges. [To practice on waterskis to snow ski better, try using two waterskis, not one!!]

If he thinks he performs better on a slalom waterski by training on two skis in the winter, just think how much better he would perform by training on an Alpine Snowboard.!!!

I plan to write a "letter to the editor" of SKI Magazine and think you should, too. liftlines@skimag.com You must include your full name, address and daytime phone #.

Does anybody know this guy and where he snow skis? We need to turn him onto Alpine Snowboarding.

    Had Brick

P.S. Why is waterskiing one word and snow skiing two words?

  9. It just snowed a little and they are making snow. The forecast is for some snow and then on Saturday, a mix. Saturday looks like the big day.

Several carvers we already plannng to go to Hunter Mountain on Friday (8 miles East of Windham), so let's change the schedule to say Friday is at Hunter and Saturday and Sunday are at Windham. Lifts open at 8am, so let's meet at the Quad at 8am.

Hope to see you there !! Had Brick
