Last season (my first) I was riding a Sims 167, and while I love the board and the ride, I'm a bit nervous going 9,000 mph all the time. I seemed to only have one speed on the board- full tilt- and the handful of times I fell, it was an ugly, scary mess. Any recommendations for a board that might be a bit less aggressive or a way to slow that mother down? I'm 170, 5'8" thanks

Looking for a set of step in compatible boots, MP 25-26. New to carving and sprained my ankle inside my boot to end my season last year- looking for something a bit better/better fitting than the boots I had before (Burton Reactors). Thanks, Chris

I'm riding a Sims Carve 167 with Burton Race plates and Burton reactors... angles are right at 60/60, second time in hardboots, third time on a snowboard. I keep the boots locked down when I'm riding, I can't seem to find my balance right while I'm carving in walk mode. late in the afternoon the other week I took a really mild fall, hopped right back up- but I'd somehow managed to twist my ankle inside the boot- I couldn't hold on through any turns the rest of the way down the mountain, my ankle would just let go of the turn and I'd skid out and bust my a$$- had to practically skid the rest of the way down. 2 weeks later and it's still pretty sore- what confuses me is that the twist was rotational, but I keep my boots ratcheted pretty darn tight. Anyone else had a problem with this? Are my angles too extreme? I feel a lot of pressure in my knees when I'm sitting down to strap in, I'm wondering if this isn't related... thoughts anyone?

Taking the Helmet discussion in a slightly different direction: Has anyone themselves personally worn a motorcycle helmet while snowboarding? Last time I went out, I borrowed a 'winter-sports' specific helmet, and it was pretty sweet- but like the rest of us, I'm a cheapskate- so I ask myself: why drop cash on a new helmet, when I have my trusty old motorcycle helmet right here on the shelf??? My thoughts- Pro: 1) I'm sure the thing is warm 2) I'll be in pretty good shape, cranium-wise, even after a pretty serious crash 3) I already have it, and haven't ridden my bike in forever Con: 1) look like a fool??? 2) too heavy to turn the head properly? 3) missing peripheral vision??? 4) the whole neck-twist-thing on full-facials (but who really cares when your head is safe) So anyone who has tried it, let me know how you found the experience. If no one has, then give me a couple weeks and I'll be the guinea pig and report back.

I'm not local to you (VA) but would you consider shipping the speedball 157? I'm looking to get started on the cheap and have no gear whatsoever, but I'm handy and can handle fixing the spun inserts- just tell me how much you want on top of shipping for the trouble of hauling it to the Post office. Also- I've done some snowboarding, but no hardbooting- would you recommend either board as better for a beginning carver? I'm sure I want a board, and the 'free' caught my eye- but if I'm going to do a lot better on the other- I'll take that under advisement.
