to tightening your turn radius you have to do the same thing superman does to fly faster; give it more...
...wait... how does he fly faster? just more "whoosh"?
any way, i have found that on my Donek axxess, you really have to pressure to the nose when you start you turn. Which is particularly tricky on heel side because you need to add more nose pound than usually. Idk if your ax is like this but mine has a really soft nose, and i feel like it's always a balancing act between getting enough weight forward, and not flat-out stuffing it... Just my 2 cents... sorry i can't go into more detail, but i haven't seen snow in more than 2 months, so it's all a little fuzzy.

people do it on skateboards all the time. I don't see why the theory wouldn't work on a snowboard...

Got out today, and yesterday for some runs... the snow was wicked hard. i'm really glad i didn't fall. it seemed like it would just chew you up. i started on New berry, but then later moved to Nollan, both of which were pretty quick. Even with the hard pack, i had absolutely no problem holding an edge.
i noticed right from the beginning that i had a lot of heel lift, but i didn't mind;i was in the flow..... it might be the new board i was on. the brand was "Arbor" not sure if your familiar, so i posted a pic. it sure does ride nice though
(Most of my runs were in lakeland/west lakeland, which is just north of Afton)

Jon, i was aware. i didn't really want to get deep into the theory of it when there was no one to preach to. But thanks. be cause i did miss some stuff.
I played that in jazz band as a Bb vamp a few times, i believe.... but that was several years ago in high school, when i was actually bass player.
rock guitarist or too hopped up on drugs to be able to remember how that stuff works now :p

about how long should a beginner board be?

well im slightly confused.... more than slightly.
anyway, it doesn't sound exactly right when I play it.
the top 4 lines of tab (including the blank line) are the four strings?
bottom tab - e (right?)
oh shoot! i for got to mention, the tab program i used was very crude, and i had to use 6 stings.. so thats a 6 string bass tab. my bad, i'll try to fix it.
the bottom is a B and the top is a C

Burton ain't coming back unless Jake himself mandates it for purely altruistic reasons. Burton is, first and foremost, a fashion company. They sell a lot more clothing than gear. And alpine riders aren't exactly driving the trends in snow sports fashion.
Oh yeah, i know. I'm just saying, the only way this sport is really going to take off is if a major player (burton, K2, Rome, GNU, ect...) get into it and we're going to have to help our selves until then. But i really do think we're doing a decent job of helping our selves.
And as for the Factory Prime metal... like is said, just a dream.

yeah i should've been more clear in my original post; If, and only if, the major alpine companies can get to get on the same page, and create a more inviting beginner market, will we really get to see this sport grow.
first however we're going to need to see hard boots that sell at a smiler price to softies, and bindings that are also comparable...
Boards. we really do already have boards that can handle plates, though it's a issue that could still be addressed.
I think the one big thing that could really help our sport grow is if Burton came back into the sport. But i dont see that happening until we gain popularity on our own. (Although can you imagine how cool a FP-M would be? i can see it now; Factory Prime Metal.... i'll go back to dreaming now..)

I honestly think that in the next 10 years, as long as manufactures are will to comply, and produce actual entry level gear at a entry level price, this tiny little nitch sport could consume up to 10% of the snowboarding market. I think this sport can only go up from here. Not because we're at a all time low, but because there is so much or a resurgence in carving, and people trying to make their own mark in the snowboarding world.
Last year, at my small local hill i met 3 alpine guys, who showed up there regularly. This year i've met at least 7 guy, maybe more, who ride alpine.
I'm just going to sit back and watch this sport grow

The more theory you learn, the better off you'll be. most kid guitarist refuse to learn it at first, but once they do they regret not learning it sooner. I took a theory class in high school (11th grade, 3 years ago) and even though i seldom play the guitar any more, i can still hold my own, every time i do, because of theory.

Well, jazz is really all about the theory... very technical, complicated theory...
but basically a walking bass line out lines the a chord progression. So i'm gonna just give you a tab of a very common bass line, in a very common jazz key, and i'll let you ask questions from there

now this is probably the most common walk of all time, in jazz. and it's very simple. i would say it's in the Key of Eb Minor, but since it's so up beat, because it is centered, and progresses around the 5th around the you could also use it in Bb minor.
